AMAZING!! George Bush VETOS child health care billl.....

So good old George veto'ed a bill passed by congress to expand the health care system and provide more care for children of the usa. The bill would have costed 30 billion, but it was to protect the well being of children. And he veto'ed it, after congress passed the bill.

30 billion to take care of usa children.. no sorry can't do he says

But then he asks for 195 billion for his war....

God told him to spend money on killing children, not helping them. It's not his job to save, Jesus does that.

People die during war, it's part of human nature. There has been war since there has been people.

But, when you go to war and lose focus on taking care of your own people, there is an issue.

Very good point, StuartD. Seriously. God forgives sins, just go confess and chew a wafer. Slate = Clean.

Bush figures that since it might cover some children of parents who make $80k a year, he had to veto it. Please note: if those parents used this money it doesnt mean they're cheating. It means they STILL CANT AFFORD HEALTH CARE IDIOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.

Rock on.

We should be proud of our President folks. He is a good man and a good father, a great politician and a perfect speaker. He holds great values close to his heart and feels a lot for the Iraqi people all of whom he saved from big evil and brought democracy.

I'm not crying. I am asking why it's ok to spend 195 billion on bombs, but not 30 billion to create better health care and a better life for the children of your own homeland.

Unreal. I am in shock.

Not at him vetoing, no that is no shock. That the story is a CNN sideline, and some bullshit is there instead.

THIS should tip people overboard.

I know, you were not. I was just amazed on your comment that "people die in war" .. after the StuartD's said "God told him to spend money on killing children, not helping them."

It was telling me that you don't care about children dying in war .. but you care about potential deaths caused by non-approval of health bill.

Why? Because children dying in war are not yours? and those who will die with lack of health care are yours?

Dude, children are children .. you cannot simply say, they die in war its natural.

No a child dieing or being killed is sad no matter what the context. I am saying that war happens, it's part of the natural selection process of life. It's a sad thing, and during war it is going to happen.

Bush is doing all this to "protect our homeland" how is he protection our well being on not spending money to insure the well being of the children on his own soil, but to spean the money making bombs to kill children on other soil..

I am glad he did veto it.

They wanted to change the tax on cigars.

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news0...cigar_tax.html

Quote:
There is currently 4.8 cents-per-cigar tax cap but under the proposed bill, taxes on "large cigars," a category that includes all but the tiny cigars sold in packs of 20 like cigarettes, would rise to 53 percent.

A version of the bill being considered by the Senate Finance Committee sets the maximum tax per cigar at $10.

"I'm not sure in the history of man, since our forefathers founded the country in 1776, that there's ever been a tax increase of 20,000 percent," said Eric Newman, who runs a Tampa cigar shop, according to the St. Petersburg Times. "They had the Boston Tea Party for less than this."
A box of fine cigars like Rocky Patels already costs me $110. They wanted it to cost me $168 so that I can fund some kids health care? Tell his parents to get a fucking JOB!

Just because some asshole can't take care of his family does not mean I should. Would any of you pay for my kids health care if I went into a coma? Fuck no you wouldn't. So don't expect me to do it for your kids.

Your attitude is why the rest of the world is going socialized (civilized) and the US will never have social healthcare.

You don't have to support Bush or the war to be opposed to state run government health care and more socialism.

Despite the patriotic regamarole that we usually hear from Americans, it's really not shocking to many when you hear Americans not want to help their fellow Americans.

However, it is still shocking to not want to help children just because you feel their parents failed them. Children can't fend for themselves.... regardless of their parents shortcomings.

If a country can't pitch in a little extra to help their own children, there's something very seriously wrong.

lol, "more socialism".

One of the news shows showed a montage of Bush speeches from 2000 through ALMOST present day where he said he wanted to expand this exact child health care program.

The simple fact is that Bush and the Republican party has spent more money during this presidency than ever before. Bush did not veto 1 single spending bill.. UNTIL the democrats got control of the house. Now he's simply making up for lost time.. by vetoing bills that he himself supported for years and years. He's an idiot tool We all know this.

Oh and by the way, the Republicans dont let things like them being the largest spenders in history get in the way of calling the Democrats the "tax and spend" party. They also LOVE to claim that Democrats want big government, even though the Republicans have expanded the government to it's largest size in the history of the world.

Rock on hypocrisy!

Keep appealling to the lowest educated, most poverty stricken god fearing voters. There's PLENTY of reason right there in that sentance to veto things like cost of living increases, better health care, more money for the poor as far as the modern Republican party is concerned. They know they need the votes.

Bush already expanded it years ago but this wasn't just another expansion. It was moving many people from under the states system to the federal system which also moved the costs to the feds.

The democrats ran last year on cutting spending and it looks like they lied just like the republicats !

hmmmmmm, I wonder what else might of been thrown into that bill that would cause the president to veto, undoubtedly causing scrutiny and problems in the future. Naaaaa, senators and congressman wouldn't try and sneak anything else in on a bill that is more than likely to be approved, that wouldn't be ethical.

Sorry, but if Bush decided to institute a ridiculous pornography "sin" tax instead of taxing cigars you would all be singing a different tune. I don't even smoke, but I find a 2,000 percent tax raise on any so called "vice" insane.

If the government wants to fund a $30 billion child health care bill then they need look no further than at themselves. I just read an article the other day about federal workers taking improper first class upgrades on flights that cost the US taxpayers $146 million last year alone. That is $146 million in one year because some shitbag politician can't be bothered to fly coach for his 2 hour flight to DC. So you want to be a man of the people, but you don't want to fly in coach with them? Bullshit...

Everyone hates your response but I'm with you.

If you couldn't afford to take care of the kid, you shouldn't have had it!

it was for families making up to $82,000 a year

it needs to be re-written to a lower salary threshold

people making 80k a year aren't poor

That is if two parents are working 40k a piece. That is nothing in Northern Jersey for a family of five.

Funny how you gay republicans will fight to protect the rights of unborn children but yet have no problem letting them die once they are born. Fucking pieces of shit.

Is there any kind of study which compares the cost of overall medical expenses for the entire country versus how much it would cost to enable this socialized medicine thing?

Like this example: a woman feels like she's getting sick. She doesn't go to the doctor because she has no insurance, figures it will go away. Over time she gets worse, finally ending up in the emergency room. They find that she's got a cancer that if she would have gotten treated when she first felt sick, would have been easy to take care of. Now it's gotten horribly bad and the hospital treats her to save her life, using all their fancy gear, spends a ton of money and she dies, and the hospital absorbs the cost, and the hospital hikes up their prices to cover it.

Compare that to the woman going into her doctor early and taking care of the problem because she's insured.

Overall, which example costs more to us all?

Personally I think that if everyone had the chance to go to the doctor when they can, it would keep a lot of Americans from getting very costly sick, relieve a lot of the burden from hospitals and cost the country less in the long run.
