I have been to both and it really depends on what your plans are. If you want to relax go to Maui, if you want a nightlife and big city feel go to Waikiki.

I went for 14 days, and I stayed the first 7 days in Maui and relaxed majorly. And then I went to Waikiki and had a blast! |

Maui, if you are looking to get away. Oahu, if you are looking to go out more.

Depends on what you want to do and who your going with. At FTV we go every year. If you are going with a boyfriend/girlfriend and want to get busy on the beach then Maui. The Grand Wailea is one of my favorite resorts in the world

lived in Oahu for a few years... all around it's better for your first visit. You can party your ass off in Waikiki or hang an a somewhat secluded beach on the north shore .

Maui or Kauai is good for a romantic vacation w/ no nightlife. |

Honolulu is filthy and Waikiki is a tourist trap, you may as well go to Manila or BKK....It's ok to pass through and do some shopping there but if you want to get the Hawaii feel you have to go to Maui or Kauai.

I have a place in Kanapaali...They have wifi on the beach there |

More to do in Oahu, particularly in the evening on Kalakaua in Waikiki. You can circle the island in half a day, but be sure to check out Hanauma Bay. One of my favorite beach areas is just past Hawaii Kai and Hanauma Bay -- it's called Cockroach Cove (it's a little cove where you can jump off short cliffs and swim with the tortoises). There's also Sandy Beach, which is nearby. On the other side of the island is the North Shore, where the waves should get mammoth-like starting in November through February. Enjoy!

BTW, interisland flights are cheaper than they used to be ... try Go airlines for those . .... http://www.iflygo.com/ |
