I would never attempt to cash a check if I did not know where it came from. Ive been scammed before so I am EXTREMELY careful, however mine was a little different.

When i was in college I had this credit union account though my school, but you had to write your account number on the back of the check to make desposits through the ATM.

A few weeks later I go to pull out some money and says my account balance is $0. I call the customer service and they froze my account for suspicious activity. It turns out that (by coincidence) someone got my account number and went to Staples, bought checks and printed them off on my computer with my routing number and tried writing checks.

If you have the account number, its not hard to figure out the router number by calling the bank and asking (as long as you know which bank the checks are from which usually they post a stamp on the back when cashed)

my if you did not earn it or know where it came from then i woulndt take the chance

yeah i totally agree ... but with so many companies out there using all types of weird payment methods .... would make sense that this might be legit and just a new foreign affiliate company that has no clue about how things actually need to work. we always put a business card in with every check with our company name, affiliate program name, ICQ #, email, and anything one would need to figure out what the payment is for. I know we all get checks every week from companies that just send a check, no stub, no nothing to let you know who it was from. -- Off of the rabbit trail now, but basically if it is legit, i want the money, but only if I can verify where it came from before hand.

yes we normally do ... with Stats remote we can tell when checks should be coming and keep up with 99% of it ... but we always have those programs that slip between the cracks ... but 100% of those we can track down in less than 5 minutes

I deposited six of these checks into an account that I use for content production. I talked to my bank about it, WAMU, and they didn't see how it could be a scam. They told me the checks could bounce, but the check would physically be returned to me thus giving the bad check writer no info.

The checks came to my address with my corp name on it correctly. IMO if they where fishing for my account and routing number it would be a whole lot easier and cheaper to just send me a few sales and get a check from me which would also have my signature on it.

The funds are on hold so I will update everybody when they are cleared.

It also seems odd to me to continue sending the checks for so long, I have gotten 8 so far, one per week like clockwork. Also IMO, why not just send out a few checks here and there and disappear?

If you are worried about them somehow getting your bank info just go to the bank and open up a separate savings account. Put $50 of your own money in the account and deposit the checks. If they bounce, you know they were fakes. If they don't you know they were the real deal and you didn't just throw $1500 away. either way the only account tied to them would then be the separate savings account.

If I got a cheque for 900 bucks, I know it's a scam... the day I start getting 900 dollar cheques in the mail is the day I quit my job.

no it isn't just them getting your bank account info. with your bank account info they might be buying a car, house, who knows and destroying your credit....or something crazy stupid like that. it could be a million things. but anytime that someone gives you something for nothing, it is usually a scam.

ok ok ok I think i have this figured out ... are any of you processing with Netcash ? cause if so, the Cyprus check i received had First Priority on it. This is who Netcash EU pays out through. This could easily be what this is. At least that is what it was for us.

Skeet - thanks for your post.

NetCash EU processes through a bank in Cyprus under the name First Priority.

If you are using NetCash and are recieving checks from Cyprus - they are from us. We are working with the bank to add the Net Cash name to the checks as well.

If you are unsure, please contact me at 914-406-8803 or hit me up on ICQ: 334-743-934

Thanks

Brian

Jesus someone needs to edit the original post so people don't read through the whole thing just to see Brian's post.

Jesus, if we USED Netcash EU, I would ask the mods to delete the thread, but we don't use Netcash EU, so it's not from them.

You don't use Netcash at all, or just Netcash EU?

We use Netcash US, which we get the cheques from Netcash directly drawn on a US bank.

That's the confusing part about this whole thing.. We don't advertise ANYONE other than our own sites, so I don't know who they are from, and free money is just a dream
