Have you perhaps forgotten what it's like to truly be down and out? (Movie review)

THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS

Everyone from time to time needs to re-aquaint themselves with the real meaning of being down and out. All I can say is see this movie.

Damn.

It's a side of Will Smith I don't think I've ever seen before. Very well-done job on this true story flick. I won't get into what it's about, just watch the damn film.

All I'll say is it's got the kind of inspiration in it that's in league with Rudy.

And yes, I know that happyness is spelled with an i rather than a y. happiness. Just see the damn movie. I caught it on HBO/Movie Central.

I saw it in a theater, too. I like Will Smith and he is rarely in a bad movie (including one of my all time favorites, Independence Day). This was a great movie, and based on a true story. As someone who was on top of the world for a long time, took a HUGE fall, and am now climbing high up the ladder again, I really related to this movie...

Havent seen the movie but it sounds like something I can deff relate to, Jan this year we lost our house our car and most of our belongings because of a job loss, after getting another job which was very low paid, we eventualy just could not afford to pay everything, blimey i was even doing car bootys and helping a tree surgeon freind of mine at the weekends just to get extra money in before we lost every thing, but I guess it happens to a lot of people
and we were lucky we had family to stay with once we had lost our house..but it was like I was going down a very long and slipery road to oblivian, anyhow things are getting better now. But when you are down and out it seems like the whole world is against you and every thing that can go wrong will go wrong, its a shit situation to be in and I have learnt some very good lessons from it, especially when it comes to money matters now.

I sure do feel for people who are down and out, but there is always a light some where at the end of the dark tunnel..

I totally loved that movie. I never considered Smith a truly serious actor until this one.

Do actors really set out to win the oscar, or do they just try and give the best performance they can and the awards that may come later are just icing on the cake?

Btw, just getting nominated is a huge honor. He's been nominated once before, for his role in "Ali."

Very inspiring movie, and definitely motivates you to continue to persevere if you really want something no matter what obstacles are in your way.
