a big problem is this disconnect from ordinary people's life, last Friday on Real Time with Bill Maher this financial host was explaining how it wasn't so bad:

summary: "it's a global economy and American companies also have operations abroad which are doing well, which is good for stock prices, so every American should buy stocks as an investment, since they outperforme every other financial asset"

in what lala-land is she living, people have trouble paying their morgage, paying their debts, paying for health care, paying for tuition, ... 10 million MORE poor people under Bush

Do you really think middle class and poor people have excess money left to be building their stock portfolio? Especially since it got wiped out when the tech bubble burst!

a scary list: Current account balance

guess where the US ranks

It is even more then that now. Canada is the biggest supplier of crude oil and petrolium to the USA ... Plans of invasion are in the works ...

a) make it legal for corporations to donate to candidates (in Europe and probably most of the world this is illegal and called bribery/corruption)
b) elect a party that hates government, they will run it, so it indeed will not work, don't you people wonder why a lot of stuff (health care, pensions, ...) run by government does work in so many countries
c) have an electorate that is so stupid that it gets bend out of shape over a fucking blowjob

Bush's Medicare deal is a clear example of this corruption: big pharma wrote that bill! Saw this docu about it, made me wanna puke.

PS: don't forget what fascism is really about: forget the racism, that's to make the medicine go down, just like "family values", the true core is economical: it's a system where government and business are in bed together on the expense of the general populace.

I'm not disagreeing with you. But you're making it out like the Republicans are the horrible people and the Democrats are saviors who do nothing wrong. They both are fucking crooks. Democrats got voted in by people wanting to stop this war, the corruption, and the spending. They stopped none of it. They spend up the ass, they let Bush do what he wants, and they have a bunch of fucking crooks in Congress.

I'm just saying that it doesn't matter whether it's a Dem or Republican. They are all crooks that would slit your throat if they felt it could get them an extra vote.

directfiesta... fuck you sound like a retard... why is it that every little bump in the US economy has someone pointing to starting a war somewhere?

It's about probably the biggest international debt problem on the planet and having mechanisms in place to begin to repay that debt and while currency remains under pressure - it's more serious than just country bullshit and can seriously affect millions of US people (who never played a role in this) and others elsewhere. OK, enough - I'm staying well clear :)

I agree with a lot of the stuff you say. My stating your objectionism was simply based on the fact that almost every post you make is negative toward the US. Just as someone like DaddyHalbucks is going to make every post positive toward the US. Whether the opinion is right or wrong of the person, there is still an agenda behind it. I'm not into the nationalism stuff, so I don't really look at things like you guys do.

I think we're in store for some bumpy roads. And when I say we, I mean most of the planet. It's really a global economy we play in these days, and any economic problems in the US will have a severe impact on the world.

There are several reasons for the parity... and it's not just the US economy sucking. The Canadian dollar has now been linked with oil, and as commodity prices rise for resources Canada is wealthy in, the dollar will go up. Canada has the second largest oil deposit in the world next to Saudi Arabia, and their supply is NOT infinite. :(

I wish it would go back down. I too enjoyed the free money on the exchange.

Even though every currency in the world is "colorful monopoly money", other than the USD. When will Americans ever learn about the world outside your country?

Things are worse than we thought. Have you seen the new US bills?
