simple SEO question
A. 10 blogs with 100 posts each, 100 backlinks each
B. 1 blog with (exactly the same as A) 1000 posts, 1000 backlinks in the perfect World will B get the same Google traffic as A (all things being equal) What I'm thinking is should I create 10 blogs or just one with say 10 subdirectories (I have the posts written already)? |

It's really hard to say... I used to be more of a B man but over the last few years have shifted to A as it allows me a lot more flexibility to promote multiple things and diversify.. If the SEs change their algorithms, a B person could be severly fucked but the A person will probably weather the storm as some will go up and some down and it should hopefully balance itself out.
eg: Google has been changing things around the last couple months.. one of my somewhat dormant sites went from 50 hits a day to now over 600 a day. Others have dropped... over all I'm actually up but I'm damn glad that I have a lot more than just a couple sites. oh... but I don't know what I'm talking about so just ignore me.... |

well, this was a bit of simplified example, Im thinking more like should I create 50
sites or 500 sites, so no, I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket, but there's a quite bit of a difference between paying $5000 and $500 for domains alone, not to mention that creating 50 sites is much less work (even though the same amount of content is used) |

I would just do the 50 first.. What you'll probably find is that once the 50 are done and generating revenue, building the next 50 will be trivial.. Plus the first 50 will teach you some things that you'll be able to incorporate into the next 50 which will make them superior... then wash and repeat... Just don't take on more than you can reasonably handle so that you never at least complete the first 50. Still not sure if that's the type of advice you're looking for though.

thanks for the input, I'm more curious as to if they would get more or less the same love from Google, I'm sure at least a few people here have done that and know the answer

The way google treats keyword rich domains recently, I'd go for A. It's really easy to get new stuff positioned very well in the SERPs if the domain contains your keywords, ridiculously easy sometimes, no idea how long this will last...but at the moment you are certainly better off with A.
Just don't do it with .info's (.biz is bad as well), since they are cheap and used by loads of spammers, google tends to kick them alot faster than .com, .net, or .org. Did some experiments with autogenerated sites lately, especially if you throw tons of links on a new .info, it goes POOF very fast. |
