These forums are getting way too much search engine indexing and are teaching surfers to keep looking when they aren't getting stolen content for free.

Maybe we can't get them all, but the main ones that are indexed well stick out like sore thumbs and they should be made to have a hard time keeping stolen content links valid.

It is super easy to build traffic when you are basically giving away tons of stolen goods.... these guys think they are webmasters but they are just thieving pieces of shit, there is no talent needed to build traffic in this way

One of these idiots was bragging about his 4MB upload speed and he'd never stop posting. I guarentee it takes me less time to cut and paste his urls then it does for him to upload them, so his bullshit didn't sway me from sending the reports to filefactory. Now, I just noticed his 60 page thread in the forum trash. :1orglaugh

trust me, i feel your pain. there are lots of services out there to try besides rs, mu and mr; if we were to restrict forum access, what would end up happening is the reporter would register and do the same thing. no matter how much we restrict the forum, the reporter(s) will do what it takes to gain access. on top of this, the forum would just be hurt, because a lot of guests become members and posters. additionally, google and other search engines have been a large part in helping pbb become the forum we all love so much.

your mods and admins are looking into this to see what can be done; it may just be a phase, or it may be something that's isolated to a certain company's content (i notice bang bros content is getting hit especially hard).

if you leave, if you stop posting, you're doing what these reporters want you to do. this is their entire goal, they're pathetic and shouldn't be given what they want.


edit: something that will probably help all of you is to split up megathreads into individual threads, and maybe add links to other relevant threads. this would make it less likely you'll lose a large amount of content at one time.

There is some good news about rapidshare... if that's even possible. They recently made an announcement, to all their members, they they were running into storage issues now. They are running out of space!! So going forward, all users will be limited to 80 gig. I know it sounds crazy but actually, that's really good because it's not uncommmon for there to be 1TB in one user thread alone. Rapidshare grandfathered all existing files into this new policy so they didn't do any deleting.. contrary to popular forum beliefs. (They think rapidshare is doing the mass deletions for space)

In other words... once the large poster accounts are taken out - they cannot reupload all the same content without any type of space restrictions. :thumbsup

I think the best way to keep your stuff from being stolen is to become like the thief. Get good at knowing how to find specific things in the big bulletin boards(like the one mentioned), and know all of the hosting sites like Rapidshare and Megaupload -- which by the way, are used for nothing but theft of copyrighted material. Those are the sites that should be shut down.
