Um by default if thiests err atheists practice evil that thus falls into a religious grouping by default.
Though it is true there is a majority who would rather see the athiests convert or leave, approx eighty percent of people fall into somewhat religious if I recall.
Must believe... damn that is harsh but wait do not they believe in something which just so happens to be different than what the majority do?

Truth is that crime is fundamentally a poverty/education issue. The lower the education level, and the lower the income levels, the higher the crime rates. Red states typically have higher poverty levels and lower education levels. Religion is typically a scapegoat to fill the void of their inadequacies.Comment

Another reason for crime is opportunity as well. There have been instances of police forces going on strike and crime going through the roof in highly religious communities. Take a look at New Orleans for instance, a population that is densely Roman Catholic. When order was removed from the city, crime went through the roof.Comment

This country wasnt founded as a Christian country, the Christian's love to rewrite history. Most of the founding fathers were deists and in the treaty with tripoli , Thomas Jefferson states we are not a Christian nation. In god we trust didnt get added to the money until the 1950's during the McCarthy red scare.Comment

Bible thumpers try to use the same false, pathetic argument all the time, claiming that Stalin, Pol Pot, and all the devil loving communists were much worse than the church. BULLSHIT. The church has murdered more people than any other person or institution in history. Prior to the 20th century, being an OUT atheist was a very dangerous thing to do.
