I don't mind being called Sweety, or Darlin' or anything like it as long as the context isn't demeaning. Like, in the south I don't think anything of it, as its a social norm. Out here in CA it happens much less, but as long as the guy doesn't mean to be either sleazy or rude I don't typically even take notice.

If someone is using the word to be rude, you can usually tell, and it makes it not 'ok'.
