Don't worry DF, 2.5% is nada when compared with a few other countries who literally live off credit and can't pay. Only ever had one mortgage in my life and that was signed in an economically brain-dead moment and paid off in about 5 years - cash is king - always will be

Problem is not with mortgaga per say...problem is with paying mortgage interest which is against their faith

Islamic law prohibits usury -- the collection and payment of interest. It is not against Islam to get a loan to buy a house, it just has to be done differently. See wiki's Islamic banking page for info, it's actually really interesting.
