More strategy, no armor or weapon pickups, you go in with what you've got and if you waste all your ammo TOO BAD! and you & up to about 12 others can play missions (Hell, the whole fucking GAME if you want ) online AGAINST THE COMPUTER!

Now THAT, in my opinion is way more fun than blowing up the same 8 guys over and over and over ad nauseum.

I do agree with you that GR is a great game, but that team work only works if you got people to play with that know what they are doing otherwise you are screwed. I am looking forward to the Xbox live version though... I think it might be fun :)

You have to admit that while Ghost is a GREAT game, Redstorm never optimized their network code properly. I much prefer playing Rogue Spear than CounterStrike, but because the Half-Life engine was so solid, I ended up playing CS in Multiplayer and Rogue only when we could play on a LAN. The same goes for Ghost. On a LAN it's great, but on my DSL modem, it gets choppy.

Right now, just played Battlefield 1942 cause he just got it today. My god I need an upgrade on my system. I see this game taking WAY too much time away from me actually. If you want someone to get out of the adult business, send them a kick ass PC and a copy of this game. Guaranteed they're not paying attention to the Biz anymore!

And if anyone wants to test that theory, I can give you a configuration from www.alienware.com and you can send me the system.... :winkwink:

Totally I have been playing that all weekend instead of doing meaningful work :) It is a very fun game to play, in fact I was just playing the Omaha beach level a sec ago, I htink one of my favorite maps so far...

Bards tale was a classic just like wasteland, it was a great experience to play...

FS2002 Professional Edition

Vox 09-14-2002 10:47 PM

No one played age of empires? Damn, I used to spend 6 hours a day playing that game.

Carrie 09-14-2002 10:51 PM

Unreal Tournament. I'm practically drooling waiting for UT 2k3. Dammit! They need to stop moving the release date back!

Got an unopened Warcraft3 sitting here - been too busy moving to even install it! WC2 was cool though... and loved SC as well.

I was a major Diablo fan and was SO disappointed when D2 came out.

Anyone remember Wizardry? That game rocked... and it didn't even have any graphics. ;)

Playing Starcraft online used to be cool, it quite quickly started taking too much of my time, so I quit. Quake (1,2,3) games online are cool too. If you are into some slower take-your-time kind of a game, civilzization 3 is a great strategy game.

Pornwolf 09-14-2002 11:27 PM

1. Age Of Empires
2. Rogue Spear
3. Jedi Knight
4. Unreal

I haven't played any PC games in a couple of years but when I did AOE kept me busy for 21 hours at a time in my free time until I beat it!

Wow, that's actually pretty smooth, it is so much better if it fills the entire screen though.

The UT2002 Demo is out btw. And maybe this will get you drooling but I actually played UT2003 in March against Cliff Blezinsky, who is the lead designer for UT. :winkwink: I used to work in the gaming industry before coming to the wonderful world of Adult, and at a show in San Jose I got to play it against him. Owned him too! Hehhe

Aahh man! I saw this in a bargain bin last year for $5.

Check out www.freeoldies.com
They have Abandonware games. Stuff that the companies basically give away at this point just for the love of the game and not trying to make a buck. Unfortunately, I think DOTT is only in french there, but in the network, maybe you'll find it.

McAttack 09-15-2002 08:10 AM

If you guys haven't played around with Emulators yet, you should. Get an old NES emulator and play some old school console games. Everybody always downloads Super Mario Bros. and the one thing that's funny is that EVERYBODY remembers where all the hidden blocks are, the mushroom, flowers, stars and all the tricks. On TOP of the music. It's GREAT to go back to an old game like that, especially if you can find an OLD Gravis Gamepad that is layedout like the NES button layout.

But old School PC.. Hmmm here's something a bit different. If you ever went on a BBS (before the Internet got to be a Porn Haven) there was Tradewars. I was unstoppable at that game.

Warcraft, online shooters.. yea they are pretty nice but I get in a too competitive mood when playing those online ;) When I lose to a 15 year old kid, I slam the monitor or something which causes a real fight with my GF.

Fortunatle you cannot play GTA3 online :)

I thought it was just me... I get sickier than hell also playing 3d games

diggy 09-15-2002 10:28 AM

I used to luuuuuuuuuurve the old sierra adventure games..

Ahh did anyone ever play a game called Jones in the Fast Lane? So cool...

They sure don't make em like they used to..

I think my boyfriend still plays Tradewars... I know it's still around...

how about Leather Goddesses of Phobos LOL...

McAttack 09-15-2002 08:32 PM

Leather Goddess of Phobos, never heard of it. Wow, a game that I DON'T know. I actually played this really bad game called Spellcaster 101 which was an adventure game based on a nerd who finds out he has some magic powers, so he uses it to try and get laid of something at a college. Awful! Never had the same magic as teh Leisure Suit Larry series.

So your bf still plays Tradewars. Man! I remember getting banned from BBSes becase of that game. My friend and I would go in, join the opposing "factions" become highly ranked and in one day we both stole as much as possible and took over the game. God that was such a great game. All text, no graphics, but it worked. Now, unless you have high polygon counts, I don't even pay attention. :1orglaugh

Dirty F 09-15-2002 09:50 PM

Yes the old Sierra games rule!!! If someone has a copy of lsl3 then please let me know...im dying to play that game again.

Monkey Island 1 was soooo much fun to play...fucking addicting.
Indiana Jones was cool.
Anybody ever played Alice in Wonderland, the adventure? I still have it on 1.44 disks. Great stuff.

Hero's Quest aka Quest for Glory 1 was amazing...16 colors ega, Adlib soundcard bahahah. I remember paying 300 bucks for a sounblaster 1.0 mono. I used to make 4 channel .mod songs with it. Lovely :)

Leather Goddess is a great game. Spellcaster was very nice as well...wasnt this guy called Simon?

fnet 09-15-2002 11:12 PM

I really can't shoot up this sort of smack anymore, but Interplay games are the best. Fallout, Baldur's Gate, etc... the designers are fanatical gamers, and incredibly prolific.

Civilization is the worst time suck ever.

Check out http://www.gamasutra.com/ for really in depth game development info.

Turboface 09-15-2002 11:16 PM

I spent a little too much time playing Q3F a few months ago. I got real good as an Engineer.

It was consuming too much of my day (and night). One evening, I just uninstalled it. I wasn't getting as much done each day as I should have.

sfa3 09-16-2002 02:36 PM

I was wonder has anybody beaten the game DOOM yet you know doom 1. When you go to the final stage and you die but still beat the game. But what happen's if you dont die i never saw the ending yet. Even if i put god mode i still die.

Lana 09-16-2002 04:06 PM

Ever since playing Hack I've been addicted to fantasy rpg's. Favourites this year are turning out to be BG2:SOA and IWD (IceWind Dale).

Diablo2 was alot of fun but it got a bit monotonous after a while - hack, slash, sell.. repeat until the cow king comes home *yawn*

SpeedoPanda 09-16-2002 04:13 PM

I think my favorite older game has to be Tyrian. Wonderful, wonderful game. Nowadays it has to be WC3 though, I like the gameplay better than other strat games...

I thought I was the only one who still loved those games!!! My first graphic adventure was Zak McKraken and the Alien Mindbenders (C64 baby!!). After that I proceeded to play all the Sierra games (except the LSL series, I was too young. I've looked for them since but can't find them). My favourite was Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist.

I'm finishing off the IWD add on (Trials of the Luremaster) right now and I'm pretty happy that IWD2 will definately be in the stores here by the time I finish TotL and IWD ...woo..I'm in geeky D&D heaven :arcadefre

lol yeah NWN was alot of fun single player but really shines if you can play online with some friends. If you are interested drop me a PM I have some friends that play every once in awhile, building their own modules. Wish I had that kind of free time... :) I was really close to getting IWD2 the other day, but my work day is already suffering from Battlefield 1942, I dont need another time sink right now....
