Maybe you will get lucky and next week she will teach them about how 9/11 was planned by George Bush and how he personally blew up the towers and shot a missle from his limo into the pentagon, then used his body double to read a book to children in class to throw us all off. |

Write a letter to the administration that you do not appreciate your child being filled with propaganda and you would like to be sure this will never happen in the future.

Saddam Hussein started the war by invading Kuwait, trying to assassinate a US President, possessing WMD, using WMD against civilians, using WMD against his neighbors, hiding WMDs, murdering hundreds of thousands of his own people, and then defying the UN for 11 years.
9/11 made the US hyper-vigilent about the Mideast and terrorism. |
Maybe the teacher was outlining the events that lead up to the point where we find ourselves at war with Iraq (which did start with the towers falling) and your son misinterpreted it?
|
BEFORE YOU START a conversation with that teacher, you need an independent witness in the room. a Mediator of sorts. Politics can get out of hand fast. Keep in mind that you are there for your son, NOT yourself.

wow, there are a lot of things wrong with the situation you are in, i would certainly go there and voice my opinion that i want ALL politically motivated teaching and talk as far away from the class room as possible!

Then Britain turned to the US for help... and the US said no... until election time. Then they sent in a certain young CIA agent by the name of Kermit Kennedy to stage the CIA's first covert "coup" and undermine Iran's attempts. Thus turning over the oil reserves, once again, to Britain and now also to the US. This lasted several years until once again Iran stepped up to revolt... Iraq seized the opportunity to step in and stake their claim. The US actually helped Iraq at this point against their common enemy.... by supplying weapons. Iraq still found it difficult, so they borrowed money from Kuwait. When Kuwait demanded repayment, Saddam turned his sites on Kuwait and attacked them. The US then turned their backs on Iraq and came to kuwait's aid. |
I love when people pay 50k a year to send their kid to private schools and then bitch when some stupid fuck who makes 45k a year teaches your kid something you don't agree with.
I make more money than any of my friends who grew up attending private schools. I like to rub that fact in their faces every chance that I get. |

So many opinions, but it's most important to talk to your child and help them to think rather than to react.
My 12 year old son had a Social Studies teacher last year that had differing views from our own. He would come home from school talking of things and I would look at him and say, "your teacher really said that????" To whit we would then discuss things from both sides helping him to understand rather than to just accept something from an authority figure. My wife and I are moderate-conservatives, but that doesn't mean I don't agree with some of the leftist ideas. I don't blanketly accept right wing principles either. Anyways, I would most highly agree with the statement that this discussion is a little heavy for a 3rd grader and probably the most important discussion would be to ask the principal and the teacher if 9/11 and Afghanistan and Iraq are part of the 3rd grade curriculim. If not, then her response to little Johnny that asked the question should have been that there are many opinions about what has happened and is happening and he should discuss them with his parents to gain a better understanding. I don't think her or her husbands political or historical views belong in the classroom. |
I would call the teacher and just say what you said here. Open up a line of dialog with her.
I used to see it a lot when I was on my kids' PTA board at school: parents would get upset and the first they'd do is go running to the principal or superintendent, instead of contacting the teacher to possibly resolve the problem. Maybe what she has done is open up some dialog. I know the subject of war is probably not the best for 3rd graders, but with all of the coverage, it's hard for them to avoid hearing about it. Everyone, including teachers will have some sort of opinion on it. Keep it on a 3rd grader level, but see about opening those lines of dialog. |

ya I think your doing the right thing. If I had my kids going to private school, id expect better service than this

Sure, the point of paying for your kids education is to emphasize Academics, which does include politics. I'd confront her and tell her if she is going to teach about that, she should present all sides of the issue and not be biased.

It is not my opinion, this is fact. To say something so ignorant to a young mind is a crime. It is child abuse in it's purest form. So yes I believe you should make a big thing about it. I hope my words have enforced your belief in the fact this "teacher" was wrong. :2 cents: |
Look, this is all no surprise. Something like 65% of Americans believe that Iraq attacked the twin towers. So his teacher is among the idiot majority, lmao.
The power of suggestion is an amazing thing. PR_Tom is huge and handsome and rich. |
you pay for the school
therefore since you obviously are not happy with what she said you should take it up with her and tell her exactly what you think. Just be composed and don't try to strangle her haha Personally I won't accept being told by people I'm way out of hand just because her husband is in the air force, military or whatever. |
we're fighting another war in addition to the war in iraq- the one in afghanistan against the al qaeda terrorists.
perhaps she was referring to that one. |
Don't lynch the teacher yet. The 3rd grader could have misunderstood or only heard part of what she said. I know my attention span was weak at that age.

I'd talk to the principal/director, not her.

Let's see 15 of the 19 hi-jackers were Saudis and NONE were Iraqi so naturally we invade IRAQ and are buddy buddy with Saudi Arabia. That's like the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor and using that as an excuse to invade China and FDR is still best buddies with Hirohito. |
I think you and the teacher should go back in time a bit more to look at the realities of things in Iraq. The problem started in 1918 when the British appointed a king (sunni) to rule Iraq for them. It was NOT a good move and the rest is history. Bush just made it worse...
I would have the teacher "written up" like she writes up kids of her own for doing stupid stuff in class. IMHO |
Send your kids to private school and you get the opposite of public schools.
Since you are a moron... that means you get Republicans... Fuck... It is the whole reason why private schools exist, man! To brainwash kids at an early age to think Republican! |
Quote:
I'd definately bring it up with her and/or the person above her. I'd make it a point to say that while you appreciate giving different points of views on things like that, that she needs to do precisely that; give different points of view, and not just her own. Someone once said that it's a measure of intelligence to be able to carry conflicting thoughts on any one matter at the same time. Someone else said that was schizophrenia. I'll let you decide. |

Well you cannot, force people to change what they believed in.. The sad part is that she should've kept her views by herself and did not tell it to the kids.

For all you know that class is studying political parties and it was the turn of the republican party. The second collage actually sounds rather thoughtful and if it was made by a student rather suggests they had been studying the things which the country was built upon..good and bad. |
duh, everybody knows it was the evil doers

Most high school teachers are morons. You only need like 3 years of college to teach these days
