I don't know how long you have been in this business or what your business consists of. If you are sucessful and can afford a manager and can find a knowledgable manager that you can trust, turn it over to him and you just manage the finances and overhead. This pretty much eliminates the long hours and the stress. I have been in this business six years and for the first couple of years I was trying to learn and do everything myself (I wasn't very successful at it) and was under tremendous stress from working ridiculously long hours. I came to the conclusion that I didn't know what the hell I was doing and was not making much money doing it. I was convinced that there was money to be made, so I took the plunge, borrowed a large sum of money from a friend and invested in a big way (at least big for me). The first thing I did was to try and find someone that knew what they were doing and that I could trust. After several attempts and almost going under (now that was compounded stress) I found the right person and once he got things under control it was pretty much smooth sailing from that point on. I have a trusted manager and he has a small staff, and I pretty much just collect the money and see that the overhead is kept down. Actually I personally still don't know much about the ins and outs of the business, but I don't need to. The moral of the story is, if you can, find the right person/persons to help you, make a pretty heavy financial investment, and once you are in the groove the stress is pretty much removed. Some people enjoy the stress and the hands on everything, but I am not one of those. Am I one of the really big players in the business. No, but I have more than a comfortable income, little stress, and enjoy life quite alot.

The only stress that you should have in this biz is the stress that comes from the feeling that you could have done more work today and yesterday and so on...

Since you work for yourself you should always feel like you can do more which is good in a strange kinda way.

Porn wolf is right, I have so little stress.. My main problem is worrying that I didn't do enough work today.

I think any job can bring stress if you let it......

Stress usually results from things that you don't feel you have control over... (as pointed out by theking)..

Decrease your stress by considering those things that you *can* control and do something positive with them. Accept those things that you cannot control.

if a check is late from one sponsor, start looking into another sponsor (of course, you know that more than one is a good thing) or start investigating why those checks are late, etc etc..

theking had sound advice as did Pornwolf.. both are examples of taking control over what you do...

it's the unknown that causes stress... it's knowledge that brings control and sanity.

JMHO

This business = 10 x less stress than alot of the stuff some of us on this board do fulltime, or used to do.

So... its all comparative.

Not getting paid stresses me out and pisses me off. Doesn't happen very often. Obvious shaving stresses me out...happens more often.
