He and another guy (can't remember his name) basically cornered the heroin market in NYC. Their profits were gigantic because they imported directly from the far east, as opposed to buying from some guy, who was buying from another guy, who was buying from some other guy, who had a connection. Because he was buying direct, his dope was a purer quality and junkies flocked to him. Rumors are that the guy was grossing $1million A DAY in the 1970's.

They are making this film the way they should have made "New Jack City", another urban crime drama loosely based on a true story.

You couldn't be any more wrong. The movie is partly based on and was influenced by a New York Magazine article called "Return of Superfly".
