Say you happened to pick up a domain (.com) that became available that is the same as a .net that a small to mid sized company is using.

What do you think a reasonable asking price would be to approach them cold with? They use the .net for all their contact emails and site (and have for over 5 years), so it makes sense to me that they would want to own the .com as well.

What is the best way to sell to a mainstream company, should I just list on godaddy and point them there and save any hassles? Is the godaddy escrow service easy to use and fair priced?

the domain is pr2 at the moment, their .net domain is pr3, and they are way ahead of me on inlinks, so I'll have to do some work on outranking them on the domain name alone (although my .com is 7 years old vs. their .net is 5 years old)

should I put a 'this domain may be for sale, contact' message somewhere on the page?

in the meantime I have put up a simple website on the domain that is relevant to the domain name yet has nothing to do with their business, so I think they would have a tough case to make toward cybersquatting
