My pics from Nicaragua!!
WOW!!!! What an awesome trip!!! Unfortunately, the hurricane missed us 
I was hoping for a "I climbed an active volcano in a hurricane" story.... but maybe next time.

After taking the bus from San Jose, Costa Rica up to Rivas, Nicaragua and crashing there for two nights, we took the Ferry to Isle de Ometepe, which is one of the largest islands in a lake in the world. Our purpose there was to climb one of the most active volcanoes in Central America, Volcan Concepcion. Unfortunately, because of a recent eruption last month, we would only have been able to climb half way up.... screw that. So we decided to climb the other volcano on the island, Volcan Maderas.
This was a 9 hour hike up a rocky, muddy trail (sometimes knee deep) through rainforest to reach the crater lagoon at the summit (1,650 meters).
This is a picture from Madras looking at Concepcion after only our first hour of climbing. It was however the last open ground before we entered the rainforest.
The next day we decided to go easy on ourselves and do this nice 3 hour hike to the San Ramon Waterfall. The cold water of this 100 meter fall felt wonderful at the hike in 30C sunshine.

After that it was time to relax at the beautiful beaches around San Juan del Sur.
We took a taxi to one of the nearby beaches to relax and for me to attempt to take the next step in my learning to surf..... this was the first time I was giving up the longboard for a fish 6.8...holy difference! It took me a while, but I managed to do ok...

We just chilled there for 4 days and then it was tie to head home......
