How can I be more greedy? My rant on "wealth"...

Seems like as long as I have a comfortable place to live and good food to eat and money left for entertainment -- I'm all good. Once you got the bills paid -- what keeps you working for that "extra" money...???

How many of you actually "save" for the future? Seems like a waste to me -- as long as I can form a complete thought, I'll be able to work -- there's no point in saving for retirement.

Why do you work? Travel? Hobby? For your family? Comfort? Girlfriend? Wife? Security? Insecurity? Small penis? The good of mankind?

In this biz we can work as hard as we need to -- you know there is always more work we can be doing -- shit -- most of us have more than enough ideas to work as many hours as necessary...

You can be greedy as you want to be... I look at these people that have "real" jobs -- and I think how difficult it is for them to have put themselves into some kind of income "category"... the concept of money and wealth is so relative... but we have a choice!

It's easy to get caught up in the romance of wealth or the romance of poverty... some of the hottest women I know are poor as shit -- and they look damn good hungry too -- and their boyfriends are poor too... Sometimes I look on with envy.

What is really important in your life...? Do you really really want a Porsche? Why? Do you like the way they look? Go to the dealership and sit down -- and take a real good look -- do a drawing -- take some pics -- there you go -- now you have SEEN a Porsche... Sit in the drivers-seat... Do you really think that hot chicks will dig you in a Porsche?

Is it all about "success"? If you have "expensive" things -- do you feel succesful? When have you succeeded? Who decides what the value of something is...? Character, mistique, and ambience don't cost money -- but they can make you feel or appear just as successful...

Sure lots of girls are looking for "security" as my Mom loves to point out -- but fuck security. I don't want a chick that likes me because I have life insurance. Fuck those bitches. Where's the romance in security and prediction? If I lost everything -- I want my girl right there with me eating 99 cent Whoppers LOL.

Yesterday I spent $35 on lunch and hung out with a bunch of fat old politicians smoking cigars -- but the night before I made a few new friends chatting over $1 Pabst Blue Ribbon cans... Do you see my point? My favorite places to go now are actually the least expensive...

I can't be the only person that thinks about this shit...

I'll tell you what I want. My life back. Freedom from the man and from the system generally. And I'm getting there. I have no desire to be a millionaire, just to be able to successfully finance MY lifestyle. I own my own home - mortgage free - so the man can't come and take that away. Now I just need to be able to afford all the weed I smoke, all the alcohol I drink, all the backpacking around the world I do and all the food I eat.

That's what I want.

But I reckon the odds of finding this sort of woman is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. When I think of women now, the first word that enters my head is "parasite". I know I'm going to cop a fair bit of shit from the women around here but that is my experience and I'll wager that a fair few of you guys may agree with me on that one.

A good friend told me the following story starring an American
and a Mexican......read it:

An American guy goes on a trip to Mexico walking around he
sees a Mexican guy sitting with a big sombrero.....he's sleeping
in the sun and doesn't seem to have any worries on his mind.
The American guy walks over wakes him up for a friendly
conversation.....

Hey man...how are you? The Mexican replies....I'm fine...thanks
how can I help you? Oh I wast just walking around when I saw
you....to whom does all the land belong man...the American asks.

The Mexican replies....it's all mine...as far as you can see. The
American screams...Wow man....that's great you know what you
should do he asks?

You should build hotels, theme parks and golf course....have
bars and restaurants near that beach man....you could make
tons of money with this man!

The Mexican replies.....and why would I need tons of money?

The American.....shouts...Dude....so you can RELAX MAN!!!!

how old are you TheFly? You sound young.
Enjoy it, there are lots of cool chicks in their twenties who
just want a good time, money isn't high on their priority list when it comes to guys, way down there for many girls.

BUT............ women are programmed, probably even hard wired at birth with a need to nest and have children at some point, so when they hit thirty they get real interested in money and security. Not too many women want to be dating a 30 plus guy who's just drifting along.

So if you're less than 30 i wouldn't worry about anything, if you wanna be a slacker, be a slacker cuz you won't have a chance to do it again. 35 year old slackers aren't called slackers, they're called failures or losers. Not many women want any part of it, unless you happen to be a Brad Pitt lookalike or some real artistic type.

The thing about the Adult Net is that you can't guarantee there will be the kind of money in it down the road that there is now. Things have already changed so much since the early days.

So i wouldn't cruise along thinking that in say 3 years I'm really going to put my nose to the grindstone and make a million bucks, cuz it might not be there for you.

I work because:

a) I enjoy the feeling of success when I achieve what i set out to achive.

b) money gives you freedom to do what you want, ive been on holiday so many times in the last year and experienced things i would never have done if it wasnt for money....

BUT as you mention money isn't the only thing in life. You have to learn to balance things, i would be nothing without my friends and family.....

Yeah. Another variant of this story is the fisherman that some greedy Venture Capitalist guy was trying to convince into building a fishing fleet so he can relax.

My take on this is: sure, there SEEMS to be an irony of "coming back to where you started" after going through all the effort of building up one's economic status. But you don't come back to where you started, your goal of relaxation is the same but after providing for yourself financially you now have health care, savings, and material resources so you can be comfortable no matter what misfortunes happens in the future. COmpare that with where you were before in these stories--destitute, no health care, no insurance, totally vulnerable to crap that is out of your control.

First of all what you don't have you can't lose....with all the stress
that comes with building up your economical status also comes
a lot higher risk to health problems.....think about that for a second.

How many carreer hunters die because of heart attacks, etc, etc.
Travel around a bit visit remote places and see how people live.

I'm not saying you have to sit on your ass and do nothing but it's
good to know for yourself how much is enough.....and why.

Oh to get back to the Mexican Story.......don't forget the Mexican
owns.....the land...for him that is enough and in case of emergency.
He can always either exploit it or sell it......security is provided...
for him at this point owning the land is enough to relax....I call
that clear focus.

Hot chicks seem to dig me. Never thought about it having to do with my car.

Even wine tasters have something called QPR quality-price ratio -- I'm sure you know more than I do about taste tests. But if wine is your passion -- I say work hard for that refined palate.

As for food -- you can make a similar argument... but the "rich" don't really spend more -- they just have have better sources for food that they control -- ex: groceries where quality is higher and prices are kept low... on the other hand, if you're not in the city -- nothing will beat a home cooked meal w/ fresh ingredients.

Well my point was that the wealthy feel or appear as such because there are certain indicators... What makes a restuarant "feel expensive"? Besides the food and service -- it's mostly visual, tactile... What makes the interior of a luxury car feel expensive? The materials, craftsmanship, and design... Sure these things cost money, but they are mental triggers... I can have a $100 million in the bank and grow a beard and wear Nascar T-shirts and people will identify me as white-trash. Different wealthy people use different triggers -- depends on where you live. If you have a good eye for aesthetics you can pick out the elements. Most wealthy people surround themselves in a clean, simple aesthetic -- they can pay an artist or a decorator, architect, etc... to make them appear wealthy... Magic through identification...

But then you risk being robbed, key'd, ostracised -- so you construct fences, live in secluded gated communities, purchase security systems, hire guards, etc... now you are a prisoner of your own wealth.

Yeah... It was excellent but the bread wasn't fresh... Fucking rolls. LOL. If you're ever in the middle of nowhere -- Gainesville, FL -- I'll recommend some place to try -- you won't find many entrees in this town over $50 ;)

This is pretty easy to answer for me:

Have you ever sat on the deck of the penthouse suite on a Cruise Ship overlooking the Island of Santorini?

Have you ever laid for hours on end in a hammock in the beach in Kauai?

Have you ever sat by the window on the Orient Express while trekking though the Alps in Italy, Austria, and Switzerland?

Have you ever flown on a G5?

Have you ever walked through the streets of a small town on the Italian Rivera?

Have you ever felt the joy in knowing that you kids college education was paid for? That your kids will never want for ANYTHING?

Ever seen a house in Seacliff in San Francisco?
