1408 newer movie, not sure if it's on dvd yet. Will be soon if not already.
Also Harsh Times was a decent flic that kind of flew under the radar.

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head that hasn't been mentioned.

The only thing that saved 1408 was John Cusack.

Harsh Times was kind of depressing and lacked much of a plot.

Edit: 150!

Just saw "Happiness" and well it does show allot about people's daily dilemmas and sad lives. Was ok but I found no reason for the movie to be so long.

Forgot about this one, based on a true story (even though it was made a bit "different" for the masses).

Great movie though :)

Speaking about Alan Parker - BIRDY(1984) is a killer performance from Nicolas Cage and Matthew Modine ("joker" from Full Metal Jacket). Fairly nice movie, music was made by Peter Gabriel.

There was a lot of character development and storylines that all intersected. You just can't beat its ending either.

Great call! That is a great movie that I haven't seen in a while.

I also want to state Naked Lunch is another perfect example of the type of movie i'm looking for.

I have a painting in my house with shotgun holes in it from William Burroughs. He shot at it outside his house in Kansas.

You have very similar tastes to mine.

I noticed nobody mentioned:

Brazil
Fahrenheit 451

THX1138 is also pretty great. Makes you realize how much George Lucas has lost his edge.

Is Brazil about a serial killer?

No one say Donnie Darko or Butterfly Effect. Nothing with Drew Barrymore either.
