Jimmy's on a roll tonight!
There's a couple of ways, get Vegas Video 3.0 from Sonic Foundry. It makes it easier than any other utility I've used. You can also do it with the stuff you have but there's an accelleration setting you have to shut down on Windows Media in order to capture video stills through Print Screen or whatever you are using.I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

www.hypersnap.com
download the version 3, and get a free week trial... its worth the purchase if you do alot of video stuff.
Go to enable special effects under capture settings, check both directx check marks... go to the clip... press print screen on your keyboard, go back to hypersnap and its right there, save it as a bmp or jpg.
That help? =)Comment

SnagIt is perfect for getting shots from movies, games, whatever you want. Works great.

Jimmy - I prefer 35mm (better quality) than run 24 hour photo development service... then scanning... etc...

download virtualdub
open the mpeg with it and hit a screenshot like before with print screen.
paste the image to paint or photoshop and you have the best possible screenshop available :-)
Snag it and hupersnap can capture it too, but the result will be of lower quality compared to my way.
With few words my way rules.
Bottom line I rule.
Im the best.

Magic Media ++, you can get it from download.com - I have been happy with the results I get from the program - plus you can select which frame you want to export from the movie - as well batch a whole folder of files !Comment

with snag-it it's matter of luck to find the correct frame,if you pause the movie most of the times will return a blank screen. Hypersnag it is a bit better. The way I described is the best I have found so far for mpeg/avi files. You can select any frame you want.Originally posted by Kimmykim
With any of these programs can you pull out frame by frame from the videos?
I'll have to take a look at Magic Media ++, it sounds interesting program.Comment

with qt pro, no problem. jog through until you see a frame you want, then export. you can get at every single frame in a given file. it also produces very high quality grabs (relative to your source file).Originally posted by Kimmykim
