Listening to it now. I've never heard this song before, but I can tell they are sampling The Clash's "Straight To Hell."

For anyone else that doesn't believe the OP, he is telling the truth. I just google'd "Top 50 albums Rolling Stone" and this is indeed #1.

There's my favorite modern rock/blues band, The White Stripes, at #17 with Icky Thump.

My vote is for "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" by Modest Mouse

Man that song, if it can be called that, is total crap.

Rolling Stone has no credibility whatsoever.

yea, how do they make that list? Im pretty sure its not based on record sales (because i never heard of this MIA), is it some snobby panel who think they know what good music is? If so, this list is worthless, its just the personal taste of some people.

This is the best album of 2007 in my opinion.

My vote for dark horse album of the year is Okkervil River - The Stage Names.

Probably most people here haven't heard it but it is really good.

Good call on the Modest Mouse, that is a really good album.

Notable albums not on that list:

                        Battles - Mirrored
Apostle of Hustle - National Anthem of Nowhere
Band of Horses - Cease to Begin
                        The National - Boxer
Interpol - Our Love to Admire
Editors - An End Has a Start
Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Living With The Living
                        Justice - Cross
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Is Is [EP]
                        White Rabbits - Fort Nightly
The Noisettes - What's The Time Mr. Wolf?
They Might Be Giants - The Else
Klaxons - Myths of the Near Future

If you've never heard of MIA then you clearly aren't paying any attention. I don't even like her stuff, but she is one of the more talked about and coveted performers of the year in North America.

Interestingly Britney made the list of many people as well. They say it's her best album to date.

Ted Leo is the man. Saw him in concert about 6 weeks ago and he didn't disappoint. Apparently he's really popular overseas but doesn't get much credit here in the US.
