Uhhh... that article is simply stating what is already occurring. When you link to someone without getting a link back you are diluting your page rank. That is normal and has been that way since they invented PR!

i don't do link exchanges or trades with one of my sites and its ranking nicely in the SERPs - all inbounds from the main page to an internal link. Who knows, keep playing until you've found the magic ingredient.

I do think google has diminished A > B recip link exchanges. That's why I've been doing A > B > C link trades since 2001.
