Blog content writing questions

I try to make everything sounds positive, though sometimes I use a darker more dangerous text to make the gallery or sponsor sound like this is something they just can't afford to miss.

who, in my opinion, there's a buyer for everything. You can most definitely say that 'it isn't to your particular taste' but surpassing that to say 'it's bad/sucks' isn't going to help you make sales. In other words, why turn someone away from something you want to sell? What if it's exactly what people are looking for but since you have a fast computer with a large screen, you think it sucks cuz 'you' can't see it right? If you're going to take the time to write it, may as well overcompensate with the positives when you have something negative to say.

Yes, I suppose you're right. The only advantage of writing negatively about some content would be to increase the range of keywords on the site. I mean, some people might actually search for things like 'ugly face teen' or 'deformed nipples'.

If you don't like what you're selling try to find things you do like to sell. Of course your idea about the keywords are fine, but if the site only has one girl who is an "ugly face teen" don't expect a lot of sign ups. If the site is full of normal people "amateurs and girl next door" types you should know what it is the guy into this niche is looking for.

The first rule of selling is empathize with your customer.

I wouldn't bother putting up pictures I didn't like. Don't really see the point unless you're trying to be controversial. Personally, I'd rather read a blog about what you like, cause I might like it to.

We have several feed categories for Weg. All them are touched with humor and story telling aspects. However, for the DVD Review one, we allow one opinionated guy to tell it like it is. The idea is that he will engage the user as a trusting resource, so when he says "buy this," chances are better.

It depends. If you have a particular audience a negative post could be entertaining and serve as a break from you selling something with every post.

As Cory said, it could increase your trust level.

On another note, I think it is a common mistake that adult blog makers make to try to sell something with every post. Switch up the content of your posts. Talk about some other stuff to engage the reader. Throw in a joke or some other commentary. A funny photochopped picture of Ms. Sourh carolina or something.

With so many splog'ish sites out there you have to stand out from the crowd or else you might as well just make free sites and TGP's at this point.

That's right on the money (in my humble opinion). The bulk of my time in preparing a blog post is spent sorting through galleries and thumbnails so that I can find the sexiest chicks/trannies/gay dudes. If your prerogative is to sell something, then you want to display the most attractive models, and if you're displaying the most attractive models then you'll only have nice things to say about them.

There are two ways you could use disparaging or critical commentary to your sales advantage (other than what has been mentioned thus far)... these are just off the top of my head.

1) If you have a review format then being critical will help to establish you as some sort of an authority. If someone or some site is ugly or sub-par, and you "tell it how it is", then your readers will be more inclined to follow your word when you recommend a site for them to sign up to. It's about projecting yourself as impartial and thereby soliciting the trust of your readers. ***Edit: I see that Cory and Pornwolf mentioned this as well.***

2) There is also the contrast principle. We formulate judgments through comparisons, and so if you take a substandard model (ugly chick) and compare her with a beautiful model (hot chick), the beautiful model will be more appeling to the nth degree by virtue of the comparison. This sort of ties into the previous use (with the review formats), but certainly is distinct enough to stand on it's own. So, for example, if you're trying to promote one website or model, try and prop it up next to something that will be perceived as much less attractive.

My spammiest blog has a post pattern that goes something like this:

Money post (text and pictures with sponsor links)

text post-(non-revenue)

and so forth.

People are looking to be entertained. Put on a show. Porn sales is not the show. It's the commercial during the show. If you try to make it the show, you'll be boring.
