gasoline, vehicle leases if it's used for the biz, food/alcohol used for entertaining/doing business with potential/existing clients... etc..

if it involves your business, you can write it off.

desk, computer, screens, desk lamp, internet connection, heating for the cubic space of the room you work in assuming it isnt the main living room of your abode, percentage of your electricity, hosting,

just keep thinking of every expense possible that relates to your work. But, keep it real ...

dirty underwear, dirty t-shirts, baseball caps - tell the accountant that it's a required uniform for your occupation and that you have no use for them other than for your occupation.

also try cartons of cigarettes, soft drinks, and junk food.

depends on where you live.... in florida if part or an entire room is used for business then you can write off part of your rent and bills

plus you've got domains, hosting, outsourced work (coding/design/whatever), accountants, lawyers, etc,

plus all the shit you buy (computers, chairs, desks, papers, printers, ink)

hell if you're real good you can write off everything from laundary soap to mcdonalds. find a good cpa and have them sort it out

Yes, but if you take questionable deductions such as cars and entertainment you increase your risk of an audit.

Yeah I know our accountant tells us to write off around $1,000 of car expenses per year - just what is reasonable for business during the year.

You give all your expenses (itemized as much as humanly possible), give it to you CPA and let him/her decide what's legal and what's not. Mine tells me at least ONE big trip a year I shouldn't file that way if I'm audited I can say "Well, I didn't write THIS one off!!!" Last year was Maui, this year Europe. And I did talk about business at each one, thought I guess they weren't really "business trips" either ;)

If you make enough money to write things off, the first thing on your list to write off should be a visit to a CPA.

your work space/office utilities

so if your work space is 20% of your houseyou can write off 20% of your utilities

IF you work at home

he made two exactly the same threads about that and he said the GFY'ers are smarter than the accountants or lawyers that's why he comes for advice here
