well you can basically do all kinds of epass stuff from your cellphone through
a java application (or by sms text commands). I can check balance, make
purchases from my phone do p2p transactions....
I went with the java app on a Nokia E65 phone.
so now I can send, receive, check epass balance or pay for products with
nothing more than my cellphone wherever I am.
I don't know the specs of that phone.....I downloaded the java file, put it with bluetooth filemanager to the phone and opened it. Then it starts download
and install....it requires some connection to use internet....so either a wifi wlan
connection or a mobile internet access point, GPRS,UTMS or whatever.
I could also download the app directly using my phone but browsing and
navigating using the phone takes longer than using bluetooth to just get
the installer file to your phone.
b.t.w. I'll email you shortly.....got your message...just all over the place at
the moment.....I'll get back to you asap though.....I won't forget
there's 2 ways to use epass from your mobile phone 1 is by using sms text
commands......no installation required for this.....but it's not as cool as option
2: Java method requires installation of the epassporte java installer cab.
Java has an interface to like shown on the pic in order to use epassporte.
This way doesn't require sms texting at all.
Does it ask for a password every time the app is opened?
If it saves it then I don't want it.
during install you have to create a pin code which you need to give for every
action, check balance, make payment, etc, etc....
you also create a security code which is needed only once for installation
of the software on your phone.....to verify the account info you filled out
in epass which is needed to in the config so it can access your account.
Once installed you only need the pin code for verification. Pin code you can
pick yourself....can be same or different than password......minimun 4 chars
pin code can be alpha numeric or combination of both.....
for every action that requires to get data from epass pin has to be verified
before it executes the selected action......also each application is also
registered to your phone number......so installing the same package on
another phone doesn't work......I tried that out to be sure you can't do that.
The java app is more secure than the sms option as sms messages are much
easier to spoof especially when you know a few lines of php......
I won't be using it a lot for making payments unless it's really urgent and I'm
not anywhere near a computer or internet connection........But being able
to check balance or check if I received payments....I think it's very useful.
especially when you're on a trip or traveling.....
