Realize you really cant own the domain name of a pornstar. Go check out ICANN and WIPO and if by chance the pornstar's name is trademarked you are looking at trademark infringement claims, palming off as well as cyber-squatting claims.

Im about to file against some rather large names in the adult biz and mainstream entertainment over a redirected URL of a trademarked pornstar domain name.

Thats uncool but I appreciate the heads up. I'll buy pornstar names with a - between the first and last name, lol. Those arent worth suing for.

As long as the pornstar's name appears in the domain name it doesnt matter.

Go buy Coca-Cola.com and see what happens. If a complaint is filed with ICANN/WIPO you will lose it. And you could get hit for cybersquatting.

              It really isnt worth it.

              And what's uncool ?

but isn't there a huge fee of like $1k-1.5k to submit a claim to icann??

and if your using the site to promote the star in question, then it is not neccessarily a mis-use of the domain is it?

in order for icann to step in, you would have to use the name in a negative manner (stealing customers, defaming the person, etc..)

and just take a look at celeb sites, there are hundreds of thousands of them out there..

i would think for someone to go through the trouble of submitting to icann and paying the fee, there would have to be something serious going on...

if you registered coca cola and you were promoting a coca cola affiliate program by using their program, i would think it would be perfectly acceptable... because as an affiliate you are respresenting the company

Thats what common sense would tell you, but alas, its not true.

If you are using someone else's name to profit that is bad faith. If I opened a site called BangBrothers.com dont you thing Bang Bros is coming to shut me down ? Of course they are, whether I am an affiliate or not. Protection of intellectual property, and yes, a pornstar's name is her property, is where the money is at -- ie., sex.com / porn.com.
