Try to limit the ibuprofin and cycle off it sometimes for a week or two. I know it is handy for keeping down inflammation and I use it too intermittantly to deal with my aching joints. A good natural combo which works for keeping your elbow and joint inflammation down is alfalfa capsules, vitamin b-12 microlozenges and manganese pills a few times daily, along with lots of fish oil and glucosamine sulfate, chrondroitin, MSM and shark cartilage extract.

Why the inflamtion...?

Anyone out there reading this, please don't mask your body pain with Ibuprofren or whatever; go out there and have fun and if your body hurts stop and tomorrow is another day :)

The inflamation from fighting, being thrown around, training muscles hard. That's what happens when you train hard. If you stop when the pain comes you'll never be in top form, period.

Develop your own routine and stick to it.

Watch for results. And adjust as needed.

Don't take advice from a bunch of keyboard muscle heads. 90% of these guys are out of shape.

BOSS1 08-19-2007 09:54 PM

Sounds like you are doing good. I train in the most unconventional style ever and it works for me. So other peoples advice is bs... some things might work for you some wont... trial and error worked for me.

So if you use a computer you're a keyboard muscle head? We're all just lying about working out and what not?

reading some of the contrasting responses in this thread I'd venture that there are quite a few keyboard personal trainers/ keyboard muscle heads that don't quite practice what they preach.

Probably so. For others, like myself, it's actually a lifestyle.

ok..fine. i apologize and i'll play.

tomorrow i will go to the gym and listen to my body. i know going into the week that each body part will get at least one days attention and at least two days rest. i know if i do chest and back on monday that my triceps will most likely be sore on tuesday. so i either do chest and triceps instead. or i save triceps for thursday.

my point being is to listen to your body. what someone else is doing most likely won't work for you. use structure to get yourself into the gym and into routine visits. feel your body out from there.

I wrote that a few posts ago.. i can actually pull up photos to back up the talk... I am sure many of the warriors cant :)

Young 08-19-2007 10:29 PM

after reading through I noticed that WarChild suggested a personal trainer and only a few dished out actual advice. i apologized for the criticism but i still stand by what i said.

feel it out.

And tommorow I am going to do my warm-ups, and probably run a few miles on payement and damage some grass. :)

eroswebmaster 08-19-2007 11:17 PM

Wow some really good stuff in this thread...gonna boomark this and keep coming back to it.

I'm going to talk to the trainers at our gym tomorrow and see what they have to offer.

And just a correction, someone congratulated me for losing 50 pounds..it's actually 65 :)

I'm at that point right now in my life, where I'm starting to get addicted once again to the physical activity.

Outside of poker, I don't have anymore vices, I've pretty much have gotten rid of all of them.

I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I'm no longer snacking on garbage, or drinking 12 packs of sodas diet or not all day long.

So, hopefully, this will be my new addiction. I'm already starting to see the signs. I've already walked, and the evening hits, and I'm jonesing to get back out there and do some more.

good luck

in all seriousness, you... being an older man are facing a huge uphill battle. losing weight is a lot harder at this point of your life than say, 15-20 years ago just because of your hormone levels

i know you might shrug this off but i would definitely suggest visiting a rejuvination / anti-aging clinic... get your bloodwork done & see where your hormone levels are

a shot a week of testosterone (and possibly growth hormone if you're ready for everyday injections) would do wonders for you... even mentally, the sense of well being alone could be worth it (imagine feeling 25 again)

anyway, hope you reach the goals you've set
