It look particularly like Montego Bay and Negril will be hit very hard, and pretty much all of the island will get winds over 120mph. If you have ever been there, you know this isn't much down there that can handle that.

i didn't even see much rain. i was hoping some would hit PR. But don't play into the media fear frenzy. After Katrina they just want to scare the shit out of you. Truth is that Jamaica is prepared for hurricanes for the most part.

Yeah they are going to get nailed, I just hope that doesn't turn a little north. Im on the southern tip of FL so it's a little to close for comfort

It's hard to think anyone can be prepared for a hurricane - it's too unpredictable what may happen. All it takes is a wrong move/decision and it can be fatal. Only actual death I know of what one young man who wanted to find his girlfriend to make sure she was safe - but stuff flying thru the air caught him.

Sure Jamaica is used to hurricanes to a degree but unless everything is nailed down it's gonna go flying thru the air and land "somewhere". One Caribbean hurricane I watched most of a whole roof lift off a neighbors home and be dumped 80 yards down the road - that's the dangerous time.

Unfortunately folks living a modest lifestyle in simple homes may suffer most - these homes could never stand a hurricane blast. But, people with possibly insecure homes should be in shelter areas for protection - or having a meals and a booze up in the local bar - it's amazing how community spirit comes to the forefront when shit is in the air

Good luck to everyone in Jamaica and stay safe - this too, will pass
