Have you ever protested against something?

One of the bigger news stories today in the UK is a big protest being planned by environmental protesters at Heathrow against airport expansion. It made me think about how despite being a rather political person I have only really ever gone on two official type protests and they were all when I was a teenager. Both were related to HIV/AIDS education policies at the time.

Have you ever been on a protest and what were you protesting about?

lol - I was going to post just this question - it made me ask myself the same thing......

I am ashamed to say no - just a few Gay Prides - but more for the party than the political message.

we have really forgotten the power of the protest, the '60's were not the only time the government was capable of listening to the public, the public just needs to get together instead of waiting and thinking it won't make a difference

I wanted to go to Pride a number of times but it always reads more like musical acts I hate rather than anything actually political.

Yes
I held a protest of one against the Mormon church when i was younger and ina band. It turns out one of the church elders how had power in the city's parks and recreation department denied us a permit to play a free concert in a park due to "obscenity issues" because I refused to give them the lyrics to the songs we were going to be performing. So I went and picketed and protested in front of the church, hehe

I've also been to an anti-nuke rally and an environmental impact rally in Wyoming...all of this was when i was much younger though.

This week is the anniversary of India and Pakistan being separated into different states and there has been a lot of mention of Gandhi on the British news. It made me think about if he would have had any real attention if he was protesting today.

I've been to many especially anti-war and anti-occupation protests.

You are put on a list fed list. If you go to a protest. In the U.S. atleast. I was told this by a fed. Whom told me it was a bad idea to go and participate.

Yes. I did. Luckily, we we're not held by the police surrounding the area.
The protest was against tuition fee increase in our university during college years. Whenever I remember that time, it made me laugh but I can say I am proud coz once in my life I stand together with other students on our rights.

No I haven't. I have wanted to several times though, but just never did. The last time I wanted to protest was when they passed the Sneak and Peek Act.

I'm disapointed in myself that I never did it...

And exactly how do they take the names of everybody that just shows up to a protest?

Sadly, that's true (my brother was on a demonstration for the legalisation of Cannabis, and when he was caught buying some one or two years later he was shown a picture of him at that demonstration). But it's some kind of weak not to protest because of that
