How can you do a system restore (XP) without actually being in XP?

My xp just crashed badly after installing sp1, how can i go back to my system restore point without being in xp?

when starting up, i tried ALL the options available (safe mode, last good config, etc) but it wont stat.. as soon as the blue screen of windows comes up, i get an error "entry point not found in some dll) and then it continues loading, and just before the logon box is supposed to show up, i get another error and my only option is to restart..

I dont have any startup disks, i dont have any disks at all (at university), i dotn have the xp cd..

however i have 2 oses, one is xp home on drive1, other is xp pro (the crashed one) on drive2. i can accses all my files on drive 2. so, anyone know how i can restore it?

This is going to sound fucked up but I had the same thing happen to me (twice).

Now the first time this happened I fucked around with it for about a day using the windows 2000 boot disks to format because I was desperate and couldn't find anything else that worked....Well that worked half assed. Then about a month later the same thing happened and I found it was worth my time to just go buy a new hard drive and fresh install xp then transfer over my old files...sell old hd on ebay

Like I said, it sounds fucked up.
