This is true, but our country does not have the Bible-thumping lobby that the US has, which is good for us.
Most of the guys my age are quite amused when I mention what I do. They adopt a "he's the man" kind of attitude. I don't care too much for it, but it is the reaction. I guess it is the job everyone wants but doesn't get into it because they're afraid they're going to be socially stained for life.
If I just met someone and he looks conservative, I just say that I do Internet marketing. If I feel like I'm going to get a good reaction, I say that I do marketing in the adult industry. People are usually interested and they want to learn more.
One time, I picked up three girls from a bar downtown (don't even ask how that happened, I'm not even very good looking) and we were in the car. One of them asked what I did. Given the fact that two of them were twins and the third one was the older sister and we were heading to my house, I thought I could reply in an honest way. So I said, "I work in marketing in the porn business." We were at a red light and I was expecting the regular "wow" and "tell me more" but the three chicks just dove off the car. I'm talking about perfectly-timed doors opening and the girls running for their lives :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
I didn't even bother to chase after them to explain. I closed the only door that they left open and went to another bar.
In general, when there's time, I try to sit down and explain some misconceptions that people may have. Some see it as eye openers, some think I'm bullshitting them.
