Buying Turntables
Seems like a few heads on GFY know a thing or two about music... what is an economy solution for buying Turntables? Should I go with a used pair of Technics or a package like this one:
DJLab.2 comes with 2 T.60 direct-drive turntables with slipmats, dust covers, straight tonearm for superior tracking when skratching, 2 start/stop switches for mix or battle setup, pitch control with ±10% adjustment, 33 and 45rpm speeds, and 2 RCA outputs and ground connector. Stanton DJLab.2 also includes 2 - 500B cartridges mounted on headshells; a M.201 compact 2-channel mixer with long-lasting crossfader, 2 selectable phono/line inputs, and a mic input; DJ PRO 80 headphones; and all cables. Stanton DJLab.2 DJ Pack Features: * 2 T.60 direct-drive turntables with slipmats and dust covers * 2 500B cartridges mounted on headshells * M.201 2-channel mixer * DJ PRO 80 headphones * All cables Thanks |

Go with the Stanton or look for the Numark budget packages. Anything else will be insanely flimsy.
Honestly you shouldn't be buying turntables this late in the game. Go digital.

My advice would be to go for the best CD turntables that you can afford, ones that play mp3s and have an accurate vinyl platter motion.

However, except for the price, the Dennon S-35000 looks sweet. I've played with the older belt-drive model. Definately scratchable, etc. So I figured, the Stanton pack looks good unless I find a better deal? |

The numark budget pack isn't bad at all. But if you are serious about this, get tech's because you will outgrow those stantons or numarks pretty quick.
They don't hold their pitch extremely well so when you doing LONG mixes it fucks u up

Word, I kinda thought they would be flimsy, and you can definately fix a good product like Technics, I will go with 1200's if I can find them. I wonder how much pitch accuracy matters when it comes to control vinyl? I plan on no more than 10 minutes of one track.

All kinds, mostly Electro and Hip-Hop style mixing, as in, not a lot of long mixes letting the record play. Battle style on occasion.
