What do you collect?

As a kid I used to collect baseball cards.

Now, I collect rare, obscure, unique and hard to find movies. Many of them aren't available on DVD, so I often end up with really old copies on VHS. It's really fascinating and there is such great history behind some of these movies and for others, there's great mystery due to not much being known about them.

So, what do you collect? Do you do it for the investment/profit potential or for the passion of it?

I was fond of collecting Nancy Drew books back then. I don't know where they are now.

seriously tho'
As a kid I did the baseball card / comic book thing. We were the first guys in the D/FW area to show up to a collectibles show selling comic books. People thought we were crazy...LOL. We had well over 3,000 comic books.

I used to have some killer press kits from movies when I was in the biz. My most recent collecting spree has involved Johnny Lightning Die Cast cars, and Todd McFarlane toys...man some of those things are art. My favorite pieces are my Crow, and Bob and Doug McKenzie toys.

I have a bunch of these...Alice Cooper, every Beatles one made, every Austin Powers one made. I fucked up and blinked when I found the KISS set for $5 per figure one day, and some guy grabbed them all.

Rhinos. You can find Elephants and Giraffes everywhere, but go looking for Rhinos once. Good luck

I've been collecting them for 8 years now and still only have about 20 different pieces.

When it comes to the Johnny Lightning cars, I collect VW's both bugs and vans, and Willy's, and any car from their Hollywood collection.

I have the Delorean from Back to the Future, the Monkees car, both cars from the Munsters, the Scooby Van is one of the coolest, all of the cars from The Simpsons, the list goes on.

Pretty much anything that passes through my door. I'm a HUGE packrat. I still have a huge box of my son's baseball cards, I have everything that has meant anything to me since I was a kid (things like my first piggy bank, a watch my first "real" boyfriend gave me, sharks teeth found over the years, etc.), I have all Christmas and birthday cards I think I've ever been given, drawings and report cards of my son's going back to preschool....I told my family I should probably start tagging stuff so they know what it is when I go ;)

I also collected antique quilts until they started overflowing boxes, I like Howard Finster originals and other folk art, and all kinds of travel trivia souvenirs of my trips and trips of others. I have a great nesting doll from when my brother went to Russia that has 16 dolls with the smallest smaller than my pinkie nail

And pictures - have tens of thousands of those.

Yes, I have a storage room down the road I pay $35 a month for after I moved into this little house.

I collect old stuff or tattoo related stuff. Yesterday I bought a Tintin statue carved in wood. Got an amazing deal I could turn around and sell it on ebay and make 200% profit but I didn't buy it for that reason.

Anything related to beverages, really.

Collection's still growing but I have a miniature copper still and an antique Egyptian tea kettle. And I have things from various glassware (some rare... some simply neat) to bottles of good beer and wine and spirits from all over.

Turtles and Felix the cat items.

I used to collect these plastic model horses and have over 1,000 of them sitting at my parents house now. I've no idea what the hell I'm going to do with those things since they can't all come to the Netherlands.

Wow, I have no rhyme or reason to my collection, but I collect damn near everything. I'll find something I like and try to collect everything applicable to it, everything from toys to posters to whatever other memorabilia is available.

One of my favorites is Elvira, and I have a great cartoon statue of her that is my favorite piece. I also have a Battlestar Galactica pewter statue that I love...

i used to like to collect things but i dunno - i lost my interest i guess.

I had a great snow dome collection, the plastic souvenirs u shake to make them snow - started when I was a kid and my parents would bring me one from wherever they went.

i had a great Hot Wheels collection that people tell me would be worth a lot today cuz i am old and I had all the original Hot Wheels and the badges that came with them.

I had a massive t-shirt collection - rock stars, movies, tv shows and cartoons - the movie ones were all valuable because they weren't the ones that got mass merchandised - they were limited editions for theater owners and media.

i also had a huge collection of the Peanuts paperpack books - lots from way before I was born - early 50's i got from some older family down the street, and i kept on collecting them until the late 70's.
