Making money with 'one page wonders'

I know that this may be more aimed at the newer webmasters but I also know that there are a bunch of them around. So, I thought I would post this in hopes it helps a few

As you may know, Max Cash has recently launched a ton of new hosted galleries and each of those galleries comes with two hosted thumbnails. One of those is a 88x88 and is a great size for those running tgps and the other is a bigger 320x240 size. I have had a good number of people contact me and ask me for ideas of how to use those thumbs to get signups in ways other than just pushing galleries.

At Max Cash we don't mind if you use the hosted thumbs on their own without linking to the galleries as long as you are using them to promote our sites. So, I thought I would take some time and put together some ideas to help show people some ways they may not have considered to use the hosted thumbs to get traffic and signups.

The first one is one that I am sure many of you have heard of but there may also be some folks that haven't. I call them one page wonders - I think I got that name ages ago from another board.

Anyway, the idea is that you create a single page, pretty basic, that is designed to get traffic on a specific search term. This isn't fast traffic but as time goes on it is very good search engine traffic.

I will start off by showing an example. This is just a very basic page I put up. So, you will no doubt be able to make it look a lot prettier and to make the word density a ton better, etc. It is just up as an example.

The example - http://www.emailerotica.com/images/sample/milfls.html

Steps to making a one page wonder:

#1 Find a site you want to promote (obviously I would love it to be a Max Cash site)

#2 Look through the hosted thumbs available for that site and think of the broad keywords that could go with them. So, for my example, I decided to go with Willing Wives, which is an MILF site, and I saw this big hosted thumb featuring lesbian sex and decided that my broad search term would be 'milf lesbian'.

#3 Go to your favorite keyword suggestion tool and put in your broad term. So, I put in 'milf lesbian' (without the quotes). Then look at the terms it comes back with. When I did this the term MILF Lesbian Sex had a good number behind it. When doing this I try to go for the terms that have a good number of people looking for them, are fairly specific but aren't overly high on the list. I want a term people are looking for but that not that many webmasters are going after.

#4 Put together a simple page that is mostly text based and make that text keyword rich without being too spammy. How you design the page is up to you but I like to put a big picture at the top (here I am using the hosted thumb we offer at Max Cash), link that picture to the site tour, and then write a little story as if I am talking to a surfer. By writing the story it allows my brain to flow more freely with keyword text and to hopefully get the surfer horny and the search engines interested. Then, I top off the page just with a big text link that essentially says 'click here to join' but in more creative words. As I said, design the page to look as good as you want but focus on text and the one or two pics and link those pics! This is your page so you don't have to follow tgp rules or be nice and cuddly to your surfer.

#5 Now, link to that site on your sites in the ways you would usually link a site to get search engine traffic. I like to put a small table at the bottom of my one page wonders that link to some other one page wonders using their search terms as the text link. I just try to make sure that the pages I link to don't also have links to those exact same pages on them..mix it up. I also like to put links to my one page wonders amongst my sidebar links on my blogs.

#6 Rinse, repeat. As with so many types of sites, the more you have the more chance to have to get hits and therefore signups. Go after a different term each time.

Again, this isn't super fast traffic. It will take time to build but if you have a bunch of them out there it will eventually build up to a nice flow of search engine traffic. Even better than just being search engine traffic, it will be filtered which is great traffic for any of us to have.

I hope this helps a few folks and hey, if it does why not sign up to Max Cash and grab those hosted thumbs and get building and earning

I was first introduced to "one-page wonders" by Snoops and Sandra on the old MaxCash radio show.

Hey, if the traffic is there why let it go by without trying That said, it doesn't have to be odd niches. Just get more specific with the general and more popular niches.

If you have a fetish you want to think the woman is getting off on it too. You never know though, my elbows are a turn on point for me..not sure I would want them 'attacked' like that though.

You can even improve this by not putting it on your own domain, but an authority domain which makes ranking even easier...unfortunately squidoo got the short end of the stick from google and hubpages banned adult, but there are more places allowing adult you can use for targetted niche landing pages.

Interesting idea, but a few questions, what are you supose to use a new domain for each of these? And also, you may get listed for awhile, but then when the page isnt updated constantly it's going to keep falling and falling in the rankings....correct?

So it maybe an alright way to make a little bit of money back off the domain, but you would need to do tons of these and keep doing them constantly as the rankings would keep falling with updates, correct or am i off here?

I have never bought a new domain just to do a page like this. It is more about making the most out of the domains I already own. If I have domains that I use for other lower profile things I stick SEO pages on them. Much like with free sites, etc the more you build the more there are out there collecting traffic. I haven't really had my terms sink that much..up and down as normal. I remember to add links to them on various new pages I do and since I am going after some of the lesser targeted terms there are less people fighting me for those terms anyway.

Wow, finally a thread from you that's worth reading. Nice job. Good tips here too. I made a killing when I made a few one page wonders for bangbus back before it was over-promoted.

I have quite a few pages that bring in a few sales a month and are strictly SE traffic (no work from me AT ALL). Imagine if you have a few thousand of these pages that you kicked out over the years every time you were bored. Consider this thread a guide on how to be a financially comfortable and lazy webmaster sometime in the future.

Yeh some old school stuff right there. A shame I didnt follow on with this stuff about 8 years ago when I first was told about it and when Maxcash was one of the ONLY sponsors around. Unfortunately (although fortuantely at the time) got side tracked into avs systems. Kay S told me about all the basics and mouse traps and those little money tables with different niches in them. What are these guys up to these days, are the likes of snoops and voltar etc. etc. all millionaires? What about Andy from Andys tips, he was one smart cookie :-)

Awesome post, been doing this for years and it pays off for the patient.

Since I have a huge surplus of domains I generally just use something from my portfolio with supporting keywords in it.

One other good way to find a new keyphrase to target is to watch the stats for your existing pages. If you see one of your one-page-wonders getting a volume of searches for some unexpected phrase, consider making a page targetted to that phrase.

I learned this stuff from Meatman and Dragon King and Bill PMB and Serge, all of whom predate Voltar (who is still a great guy, btw). I was in Max Cash when it had two sites, one straight and one gay. "Snoops", unfortunately, was my business partner. You can tell she has plenty of her "friends" around here to "defend her". FYI, Tweet and I did all the work. Snoops got all the credit. KayeS carried water for her in later years.

It was called "money bars" back then. And while ordinary now, it was considered "new" back then. And it still works today.

Exactly..it is one of the few 'build it and forget about it' things you can do anymore. The problem is that so many people that have mainly have only done TGPs expect to see thousands of hits straight away or they think a site isn't worth doing. I see the same sort of thing with people that give up on blogs because they don't seem to appreciate that they tend to get SE traffic rather than tons of useless hits.

Sarah,

Interesting post, I have a question...
You said
"#3 Go to your favorite keyword suggestion tool and put in your broad term. I want a term people are looking for but that not that many webmasters are going after."

Regarding the line 'your favorite keyword suggestion tool' What suggestion tool do you reccomend? Which is the best free one for this purpose?

Thanks

What are these guys up to these days, are the likes of snoops and voltar etc. etc. all millionaires? What about Andy from Andys tips, he was one smart cookie :-)
Interesting, I also went into AVS and sidetracked this stuff for a while. I still do AVS too but somewhere along the line I decided to throw up the SEO pages too. I think it because with my AVS stuff I found my best personal path was to go after fetish and what I call micro-micro-niche and that got me into going after the really targeted terms for as much as possible.

More importantly..you don't know how much some guy out there wants to molest a woman's armpit and therefore will search for it and buy if somebody actually offers it to him.

Bill's AVS tutorials are what I read before deciding to take AVS seriously. I can remember back when I still had a real world job printing out his tutorial and reading it on the train into work. It certainly set me on the right track with them.

Yup, it is grower traffic but I like having a lot of that traffic sitting around in the background while I work on the 'faster' projects.

I also stuff them onto existing domains. Especially now that I have a ton of blogs that are the only thing on their domain. No reason not to make sure of those domains in every way you can.

Due to the fact that I hate to spend money and I am just looking for a general idea I still use Overture's suggestion tool. I know it is out of date but I use it more to get an idea of terms I may not have thought of, etc. I know there are others that are probably better but I haven't found a free one I really like.
