So who was in boyscouts or girlscouts? What do you remember?

I entered in the Pinewood Derby as a cubscout and came in last place. Pitiful for a future physics major. I got a "Last Place Finisher" trophy. I thought this was way cooler than finishing second to last and getting nothing. I proudly displayed that trophy in my room. I think I'm one of those twisted people that sees victory even in defeat, probably because of this incident.

I was just in it for the fame. I liked the badges. Tieing knots has been an invaluable skill in life.

I had to do the pinewood derby a couple of times. it was pretty fun. Finished middle of the pack the first time, but won it all the second time. When it comes time to help your kids with it, take the little nails that the wheels turn on and shave them down to make them smaller in diameter right where the wheel will spin. I took them and mounted them in a drill and ground the shafts down as thin as possible without them breaking. Then hit them with a little graphite powder. That made a HUGE difference over the nails in their original form. Everything else is purely luck in my opinion.

Pinewood Derby was some fun shit.

I did cub scouts when I was a kid on top of football, baseball, basketball and all that other shit.. My best memories of cub scouts was all the camping we did. We went to some cool places and it was like the first time you got to hang out all night with your buddies and not have your parents there...
