hey, so where did you get/how much did you pay for your can opener?

so i spent $10 each on 2 different can openers, both are too jiggly so they don't clamp, rendering them useless after 1x each.

they were the only 2 models available at my local grocer, i think i might have to check at the google for a fucking real can opener. prolly gonna be what $20? crazy. gonna be in for like $40+ for a fucking can opener by the time i get a good 1 |

I spent $25 but it was imported and was thus a rip off but they do not have normal ones where I live.

My mom has a can opener that opens cans in a way that you can use the lid to reseal them afterwards. I don't know how much it is or what brand, but it's pretty cool if you can find one like that.

(although I'm sure my mom wasn't stupid enough to buy a $35 can opener - you can probably find a good smooth edge one like that at Marshall's or TJ Maxx for $5). |

I let it soak a few minutes in a super diluted bleach solution in water and then scrub it with a toothbrush, rinse it off and put it back in the drawer. Same solution I use on my cutting boards and such.

you can get an old school one for like $2.99...what's the point of paying more? You'd spend more time gearing one up to an electric can opener and opening it...than opening one manually.

Good can openers are a rare gem hidden amongst a pile of rubble. I went through dozens of flimsy pieces of shit, then one day when I least expected it, I hit the jackpot. My can opener cost me 25 cents at the salvation army, I saw it and I just new she was the one for me. I was in love. I took her home, cleaned her up, gently stroked her smooth shiny handle. Then I popped her onto a can, and she cut through that tin with ease. It was pure beauty. We've been together ever since. 4 years strong! I love you Canny!!!!!

and who wouldn't hope for a Canny for their self? like a fav old t-shirt, i'd bet. besides, i miss that salvation army smell that's Canny! NEVERTHELESS< i am a serious sear's fan when it comes to the kitchen, i use several of the kenmore elite appliances and they perform really well. but i've never thought of getting a can opener there, tools for sure decisions. |

PS. 1. The tin can was invented many many years before the can opener, Go figure eh? 2. Fold up some aluminum foil until you get a square about 3x3 inches and about 1/4 inch thick or as little as 1/8th when compressed. Run you blade though it until you have gone through entire wheel. This will keep your blade sharp. Oh it works for scissors too, just make assorted cuts.
