    AMp's AaronM vs. Rory Judgement

Aaron, you really should just give this guy back his bling. Not $1250 or whatever that obscure number is... but the $2k he layed down.

    Period.

Anything else is just plain shitty.

You content guys obviously operate in a different dimension than most people in as much as, I (for example) almost NEVER ask for $ up front, and normally not until the client is happy with the product. And if there ever IS a situation where a deal goes bad and I AM holding a deposit? I have no problem refunding the entire thing. Not because I'm rich, because I'm not. It's just good fucking karma dude. The shit you're doing here is fuckin' childish.

    [SIDE NOTE]
Charly, yes... your fuckin' deposit work policy fucking sucks too. Thank god I've never done business with you. And don't hold your fuckin' breath.
    [/SIDE NOTE]

What you are doing to this guy is pretty fucking shitty. Yeah, I know.... you got a heartache story just like everyone else. You've been put out... you've had hardship....

just give him his fucking money for christ's sake.

Keeping his $750 because you feel violated or whatever it is, is kinda petty don't ya think? And this has gone way beyond the point of putting a name in the spotlight to draw up business. It's to the point that you're no doubt going to suffer negative effects from this now.

If this whole thing is a joke, you need a major check up on your sense of humor. And if it's not.... I hate to say that what I've seen here the last couple of days is making me fucking sick.

    fuck this.... I'm out.

hope you do the right fucking thing... and soon.

    Testify.

But in all seriousness, i agree. This whole situation has been pathetic. Aaron has certainly come off looking rather unprofessional.

I agree amp, although one note on the deposit thing - I never used to ask for a deposit but now do. The main reason is that as content providers alot of the money we get goes out the door in hard cash.

Now I have never had a problem getting paid eventually, but several times, often from regular clients who had a good payment record, you would end up waiting weeks or months to get paid after having delivered the goods. When you have spend somewhere over 50% of the funds you are due on direct out of pocket expenses that is a bit hard to take.

I hate taking deposits, but I hate getting dicked around too.

I can fully understand that Jayson... especially for custom shoots created for a singular client.

However.... I just listened to the audio of the phone call, and it only reinforced everything I just said. Deposit policy or no deposit policy, Aaron owes this guy his money. Not at the end of some "contract date" or whatever the fuck it's being called now... but now. The deal was terminated. For whatever reason. The $$ should be refunded. Obviously Aaron is either holding onto it because his pissed off over the whole thing, or he's stalling for time because he simply doesn't have it to give.

            Gotta say.... I'm stunned.

Rory, props to you bro.... I don't think I would have been as patient and calm as you've been through this. In fact I'm sure I wouldn't have been.

Couldnt agree more. I am trying to stay out of it as much as possible but to me if you arent going to start shooting till you get the full deposit ($5000) as has been mentioned by some of Aaron's supporters, then why take $2,000 initially - just tell the guy to give you the $5000 and then you will start the shoots.

                  exactly Jayson....

all this talk of deposits and whatnot... hey, that's cool. If you require a deposit, then fine. You take someone's $2k as a DEPOSIT and you start shooting. Or you tell them you need payment in full before you will start (which would be the $5k). It's really quite simple. But you don't take $2k as a deposit, spend it on something else, then call off the deal and blame your client for a string of fuckups leading to his getting fucked out of his money. How is this good business?

No matter how you spin this, Rory got fucked. There's just no other way to see it.

amp, I briefly did business with you, and you operated as a stand-up professional, you gave me what I asked for, and regardless of the outcome, it was handled with PROFESSIONALISM.

Professionalism is important. I don't understand why this is o hard for people to understand. Do you really think we want to deal with people that will put our shit on the front porch, won't pay us on time - and blame it on personal problems [and then the webmaster gets yelled at by other webmasters - cause XXX is cool and good to party with], accuse sponsors of cheating - with no evidence, or the other dozen things I have seen happen from various webmasters from time to time on here?

wish it would've worked out better for you bro.... that was kind of a new area for me though and the majority of what I do is designed intentionally to be "over-the-top" so to speak..... think I was just trying to hard on your project there PM.

sometimes I gotta remember that the wheel doesn't need re-inventing.

one thing I've never been ashamed to admit is that, hey... I talk smack like everyone else, but I'm not perfect by any means. I can't do everything. Some things are beyond my ability. But I have NEVER done what Aaron is doing to Rory. If the day comes when I treat a client like that, I'll quit the biz.

Whats most important is no matter how frustrating a client may be, he is still your CLIENT. You are no bigger and no better than your clients needs. (even though you may be) If you can't handle your Clients' request, than say so upfront. 2k may be a nominal sum to many people, but telling your client you are 'upgrading your room in vegas' will only cause what you already had coming to you. period.
