Back in "98, I had just completed some courses in computer programming. I was one month our of school and interviewing for jobs. Didn't like any of the places I was talking to.
A friend of mine took me sailing one beautiful Saturday afternoon. As we got back to the harbor and berthed the boat in her slip, standing on the dock across from our berth was this beautiful woman. I spoke to her and she responded with an amazing smile and an Alabama accent. After chatting for a while, she asked me "So what do you do?" After explaining my situation she said "Well you should meet my husband", who turned out to be one of the founders of Epoch. A week later, not really knowing what I was getting myself into, I was working at Epoch. Thrown to the lions den. July 27, 1998 was my first day.
Back then, Epoch was only thirteen people and the business was just beginning to explode. I was setting up accounts all day long every day. Our processing agreement was four pages long. There was no compliance department. Just me looking at sites as I set them up in our database.
Working with Epoch, I've learned a lot. It was great being a part of start up company. And it's been a really amazing experience to be a part of the growth and success along the way. Back then, I never imagined I'd be with these guys for so long. But nine years later, here I am and loving every minute of it.
