Hubpages or how to lose 180k daily google visitors at once

There are bad hair days and bad SEO days. First Squidoo got shafted by Google, now Hubpages seems to be scared to be the next and decided to close doors for adult, delisting all existing adult hubs over the next few weeks and changing their TOS accordingly.

Just wanted to tell everybody in case you don't read those mails they send out weekly, time to pull links, the party is over.

Yeah, my first official public whining thread, but I thought a loss of 5.4m monthly visitors from google would be worth mentioning

And I know there are some guys here who are going to lose alot more...

Sorry for the stupid question, but what's exactly a hub page?

Check hubpages.com, it allows people to create mini portal sites and since the domain has an awesome authority, getting ranked in the google top 10 search results for any low to medium competitive term was incredibly easy. You just named your hub according to the keyword(s) you wanted to rank for, linked the shit out of it and 48 hours later you got a great ranking most of the time. Pretty much a moneymaking autopilot thing and the loss for some people here will be in the five digits a month range each...it was obvious that it wouldn't last forever, but it still sucks.

It still works well for mainstream.

Analysis is your friend. In SEO you can save alot of time and effort if you closely monitor what others do, which sites are ranking for certain terms.
