The important thing is that the traffic was never delivered to TMC, hence the importance of the server stats. Traffic can arrive to a paysite all day long without referral codes and it would still make money for the site owner.

And this is under the assumption that the correct server stats were shown.

I am fully agree with you and that's why I did 2 things

1) I have tried to search for an affiliate with the name or email or other info that Sarah gave me and nothing came up.

2) I have searched for any NEW affiliate sending MORE traffic and even here NO LUCK of course as the site have had ABSOLUTELY NO INCREASE OF TRAFFIC DURING THE LAST MONTHS (repeated many times)


LET'S repeat it once again: IF an affilaite would have bought 16k of spots AN HUGE AMOUNT he would have sent TONS more of traffic!!! Once again there is NO SIGN of increase of traffic AT ALL! Same for the sales
We have not bene working on teh old sites liek teenstarsmagazine as we are workign hard to relaunch the program in about 3 or 4 weeks.
Then we will work like crazy to promote it and get some traffic.

Independent of this Alexa stats back up your words that there has not been an increase of traffic to TMC. So I can only conclude that the traffic did not even reach your tour.

I tell you what. If someone came to me asking for MY HELP finding someone that defrauded THEM, and talked to me like that?

I'd tell them all to go suck an AIDS dick.

The professional way to have handled that would have been a nice, calm phone call explaining the situation, and asking for any assistance that could be provided.

I would then tell them that I can't release any of my affiliates information without a warrant from a judge requiring it, but would be more than happy to protect any and all records related to that affiliate and make sure said records and server logs are preserved in such a way that it can be helpful to law enforcement. I'd also assure them that I'd certainly cooperate with law enforcement in any other way that I could.

I'd even be happy to provide them with the name and number of someone at the FBI's White Collar Crimes Division.

If there WERE no affiliates of mine involved, and they were mistaken, I would calmly tell them so. If they insisted, and then started THREATENING ME demanding that I give them money that I don't owe them, or else they'll "ruin my reputation", I'd tell them to talk to their attorney to have him explain extortion and defamation laws to them.

My guess is that this content was probably ripped from TeenStarsMagazine and was being linked to the PPC search engine. Whoever ripped the site used the stolen CC, made his quick cash with the PPC search engine and when it became apparent the CC was stolen he switched it out to the actual paysite he ripped it from. This is likely why the affiliate program owner had no spike in traffic or sales, the traffic in reality went to the PPC search engine.

I think you should be contacting whoever owns topadult10.com and pass on that affiliate ID and trace who owns that account, that's likely the culprit. It seems that TeenStarsMagazine isn't actually the one who did this.

For the future DrinkingHard you can put a system in place that prevents this sort of thing happening. Its a relatively easy thing to do rather than relie on other sites that look at cached history such as the one WG pointed out.

Your system should keep a log of not only the url to send to but the last time the target page was updated along with a page capture of the updated pages of your clients. You can ping for an update by the hour, by the minute or by the day however you like.

I am really surprised you did not have that in place, if you had this would have had never happened and someone would be in jail for credit card fraud already.

I actually got lucky, it wasn't in the Google cache, Archive.org, or Altavista. If Alexa didn't cache it, I wouldn't have found it. The webmaster who did this was hoping he'd do his scam as fast as possible and no sites would have stored it in their cache so fast.

Its definitely worth implementing a snapshop system on galleries to make sure anyone who does link switching doesn't try this again. The webmaster who did this seems to have tried the old bait and switch and at the expense of it, put a new webmaster program at risk.
