Yup, this is one of those "relevant facts were not included".

Size of country. Cars per 100,000 people. Overall population. Fuel use per person per year.

Very important one: Fuel use per person per year for the last 10 years. China alone has had massive increases in fuel consumption in the last 10 years.

The US has issues, that is for sure, most of which have to do with things like SUVs, suburbia, and the almost total lack of public transit use by anyone outside of the lowest financial classes.

just some useless stats..

oil per capita...

#17 United States: 68.838 bbl/day per 1,000 peopl
#18 Canada: 68.703 bbl/day per 1,000 peopl

and canada ain't really that much bigger..

1 Russia 17,075,200 km2
2 Canada 9,984,670 km2
3 United States 9,826,630 km2
4 China 9,596,960 km2

Word. You have also to take into consideration that the area of the US includes place like Alaska and the Virgin Islands which throw the stats off a little bit. I note this because Alaska is not as densely populated as the rest of the US in general and therefor really only serves to increase the amount of land you have while not housing many people in comparison to almost all of the other states (it ranks 47th while being the biggest in area).

On a per capita basis, I am not surprised in the slightest that Canada and the US use roughly the same amount of oil (unless you add in the DoD into the US stats) because we have similar setups. My point that Canada is large was made so people understand why we use cars if we live outside of the city.

And on a side note, I was never saying Canada was the largest country in the world. Everyone know Russia is the biggest by a long shot.:thumbsup

The price to fll a Honda civic in mexico is WRONG.

I am just now paying a little over that to fill my truck.

That statistic is a little misleading, if you look at per capita gas use, US is in the same ballpark as other industrialized nations...
