She is my #1 singer (for the looks that is) for a few years, but I read that this is not entirely true. She seems to have a not too good face, lots of craters in there (so I read on some forum once). Might be the reason for the overdone make-up.

That's stage makeup, people. From, you know, the *show* she was involved in on stage... Stage makeup tends to be more extreme, so you look right from a distance, under stage lights. Photos taken up close, with a flash, aren'y going to look right.

It does look better from far away but true stage makeup is even more 'whorish' than that. When you apply stage makeup you use white around the eyes (and black or dark brown around the white) to make them look bigger, exaggerate the blusher to show the shape of the face and use VERY bright lipstick (usually a shade of dark red) just so they show up. TV makeup is usually toned down from that because the camera sees much better than a person in the audience at the same distance. It looks like she's tried to find a happy medium between the two, although I wouldn't be surprised if she leaves the house looking like that for most public appearances. Too much for 'everyday' in my opinion but then I don't think her boobs needed doing either.
