I used to hate it untill I was shown how to really use it, now its all good :)

yea, you might be right, but really I never use it... I don't really encounter many situations where texting would be useful...

Maybe i should look into it but phone plans are expensive enough...45 bucks for 250 daytime minutes 1000 night/weekend with unlimited internet, 25 text messages and call display. You guys probably have better prices in the states.

Nope i'm using the default browser, GFY looks like shit on my curve but JBM looks good. (Sorry GFY I would love to post here on my curve but it's just not doable).

My pearl had a TERRIBLE browser, it was absolutely useless I could'nt browse anything other than the rogers website effectively.

Haven't tried JBM but there's an investment board I post on that uses the same software and I can't post on it. Sometimes it won't even let me access a message - I have to go the one before or after and hit "previous", lol.

All in all, I LOVE the damn thing though :)

That does sound like a shitty plan for 45 bucks man...I think 40 bucks with T-Mobile will get you unlimited nights and weekends plus 300 anytime minutes and 300 texts...don't quote me but I think that is accurate.

you're in a traffic jam, you will be late..

nothing easier than just writing a short text saying "i'll be late 15 mins" - why spend a call and conversation on that?

What if your in a busy public place? or somewhere that you need to be quiet, or anywhere that talking on your phone is just kinda rude.
To avoid long distance charges is a good reason I use it too.

VB has an option to have a wap version built into it. I dont know why more boards dont use it. Use alot less data too.
I use opera on my Pearl, and most things are alright, i mean the screen in small.. but what do you expect.

jeffrey 07-11-2007 11:49 AM

double post.

I was just discussing the value of text messaging last night with a teammate as I was enjoying a cold frosty beverage after our weekly beat down out with my softball team "Desk Rage".

Instead of a long good night conversation with the girlfriend outside in the cold, I can send a couple of endearing texts and she can go to bed happy and I can continue to enjoy watching the rest of SportsCenter.

I'm very pro Text.

I hope this means there's a new project in the mix. :)

texting is a good 'icebreaker' that keeps contact and can be a prelude to an actual phone call. "lunch"... "yeah starving" then you call.... or "lunch".... "just ate, sorry" then you don't bother calling and save having to listen to the excuse etc

There is no t mobile here though. Not that i know of at least. Rogers, Bell, Telus i think are the only options.

Holly 07-11-2007 12:41 PM

I do it, but only begrudgingly. I think I'm too impatient for it. I'd rather just dial your damn number and tell you what I have to say. I have a few friends that are obsessed with it and insist on texting me. They won't even answer the damn phone if I try to call them back instead of replying to their message, lol.

I had to add a text plan because I could see they weren't going to give it up. It was 10 cents to send or read a message without a plan. I added on unlimited for $10 a month, even though I'm sure most months it would probably just be cheaper to pay per message.

Fap 07-11-2007 01:27 PM

i text way too much..

GTS Mark 07-11-2007 03:46 PM

Wow very interesting, almost 68% of the people polled text message. :)

Damnit I said don't quote me!! :1orglaugh

Have you checked with any new cell service companies? Sometimes they offer better plans than an already established company to attract business. I didn't realize there was such a difference in cell service across the globe...shitty.:Oh crap

I make my conversations very short, I have little time as well. Also if something is important enough to require a quiet conditions I wouldn't write it in a message, as for noise, it's never bothered me before. But you make some valid points.

True, good hypothetical situation, but I have free minutes that go to waste, time to kill in said traffic jam, and....I'm a real slow typer, so it's likely the jam will be over by the time I send my message.:1orglaugh

But I can solemnly vow I haven't sent a text message since I bought my phone, that's about 2 years ago, and I'm still alive and healthy.

SBJ 07-11-2007 04:52 PM

I text all the time and cause of it i got a Sidekick 3 because i could not keep up with the girls texting me. I'm about to look into a better phone but the sidekick has 3 IM's and i can surf/post the net from anywhere..

I have 1,500 min with unlimited internet/ txts for around $70.. might seem high but if so you need to step it up and make more money :1orglaugh

BTW does anyone know a smartphone that has ICQ and can be used to log into ccbills admin? haha I could live off my phone if i could do those 2 things

jigg 07-11-2007 04:58 PM
