He has "hundreds" of bite marks most of which did not penetrate. He has puncture and tear marks literally from head to his tail which required about half of his body to be shaved and lots of stitches.

Pitbulls don't do business that way. Sounds like you've let rats get at your dog son.

It's true, Pits lock on and thrash. With that many bites it may be a dog that looks like a pit, maybe boxer?

If it's "hundreds of bites" then it's either a gang of chihuahua's or rats with a heathly dog......or an owner that was too lazy/drunk to care.

I've got eyewitnesses and pics of the dogs. They are pits, the WILL die, end of debate.

Update on Cayman.

I had a pitbull come after my dog one time and I was lucky enough to get it to back off. I went after the jackass owners when they came out to see what was going on and had to be held back by an off-duty cop.

Sorry to hear about the situation.

other breeds don't continually attack and kill other peoples dogs and people/babies... and a simple fact is that they often, for no otherwise explicable reason.. do exactly that in spite of all the rhetoric about how great they are... and the stories are often the same as your's "he's so nice, the kids love him" blah blah blah... then bam! an old woman gets mauled and killed for no reason by that same, wonderful, kid loving family dog.

funny how all these "horrible dog owners" that are solely, 100% responsble for the bad behavior of pit bulls can't seem to corrupt Rottweilers, Dobermans or any other dog and cause them to kill people and other dogs at random. these horror stories are always 99% about 1 breed of dog and one breed only.

I think the biggest problem with pitbulls is that the type of person that most often gets them aren't the ones who are going to train them properly. They CAN be trained to be pretty safe, but it takes a hell of a lot of work. I've got a big dog that came from a mixed past, but 4 years of dog training and he's well behaved.

You should try and do a little research before you go about making inaccurate statements. This is where a lot of the negative image of pit bulls comes from, people that make statements without having the facts to back them up, then Joe gullible thinks oh I heard this from such and such a person so it must be true.

Now I am not saying that there are no bad or vicious pit bulls, because surely there are and just is the same of any other breed of dog. I would say that 99% of the time if trained/socialized properly they can be terrific pets/companions. You must also understand that there is a hierarchy in the social structure of pack animals and you may find with a lot of these larger dominate breeds that they will try and test you so as to become the alpha dog in the pack themselves (because they will look at you as part of their pack). It is up to you to show them who is the boss (ALPHA MALE). That is why certain people should not own these larger dominate breeds because not knowing and understanding this social structure can have deadly consequences, even if your intentions are good.

Now what happened to Aaron's dog is awful and should never have happened. That is a prime example of irresponsible dog ownership. At no time should any dog be allowed to wander the streets by themselves. For their own safety as well as the safety of others. I hope Aaron will be able to find the owners and make them take responsibility for what happened. I also wish the dog a speedy recovery

pitbulls have the fight and killing instinct in their blood, they have for years.

an owner can be responsible... wich most pitbull owners are not... some are... but they were still breed to kill

any argument past that is simply inaccurate...

once again another ass making the argument that the dogs are totally fine... but dangerous if you don't do this... don't do that... and don't do the other thing... and don't teach them not to be unpredictable, killing machines

THATS THE FUCKING POINT! They are by default, dangerous and unpredictable.

you may as well be making the same retarded arguments about having a pet tiger or brown bear or bald eagle... "just show them who's dominant", do this... do that... do the other thing... then when they lash out and kill one day for no apparent reason, blame the owner as if it makes perfect sense.

as i have said... its not all dogs that have this problem. there is no huge issue with cocker spaniels maming and killing babies... when it happens, its a pit bull. so what any owner "should do" to make the dog probably not turn out to be a killing machine is VERY irrelevant to the problem, since you can't make any dog owner do anything.

You have no clue...I was talking with a lady one day while I was walking my pit bull and she was very surprised when I told her what type of dog he was and how well behaved and friendly he was (unleashed and walking by my side) and would obay any command that I gave him. I told her that the the media really loves to sensationalize pit bull attacks because those type of stories are the ones that sell. Much of the time it turns out not to even to be a pit bull. Then she told me of her "cocker spaniel" yes a "cocker spaniel" that nearly ripped her 8 year old sons face off. Poor kid had to have a ton of surgery and has a very nasty scar that he will have on his face for the rest of his life. As I have said before do a little reasearch before you start making statments about things that you obviously know nothing about.

Let me guess, you are one of those people that gets a small dog and doesn't bother to train it because you figure it's small and doesn't need to behave and if it bites someone oh well they'll survive....your ignorance amazes me, but hey if you want to make shit up and believe it to be true go right ahead it's really not my job to educate you

yeah... i'm 37 years old. have never seen a dog in my life. have never known anyone that owns a dog and can't read a newspaper or watch the news or talk to people.

i clearly have no clue... you are lucky. most of us can only see dogs in pictures and sometimes at major zoos... but you actually own one. how unusual. thats so exotic and crazy to even imagine.

you already defeated your own arguments by clarifying upfront that they are dangerous animals by default. that was my only point. exceptions, dogs that don't attack, media hype etc has nothing do with that simple fact at all.

My only on it.

Amazing how many people are too dumb to understand the very basic difference when a more docile breed decides to bite something and what happens when a pitbull does.

There is a very good reason the UK government spent a lot of money looking into the inherent danger of Pitbulls before putting a total ban on them. But of course all the armchair experts who have been lucky enough to own one that didn't turn know so much better.

No redeeming qualities.

no offense but that is far and above the stupidest statement..

I have had plenty of pitbulls , never attacked humans or animals , so first off your statement is false.. 100% false.

Pitbulls are more non-aggresive than most dogs .

I really find it strange people toss posts out like this with seemingly no afterthought.

Cars kill more people than dogs.. infact more people die from CHOKING ON THEIR OWN TOOTHBRUSH than from pitbulls. but i dont see you banning toothbrushes.

Black people kill more people than pitbulls , but i dont hear you saying the same thing about black people.

If anything pitbulls should ban us.. we kill more people , and more pitbulls than pitbulls have ever hurt us.

You may not find any redeeming qualities in a pitbull but there are plenty.

maybe you are too dumb to realise pitbulls are one of the more docile breeds..

Who is more dangerous , a cop with a bazooka or a crackhead with a sharp spoon ?

Who could do more damage to you ? cop

who do you think is more likely to attack you in a dark alley ? crackhead

What experience do you have with pitbulls besides being a sheep to the media ?

Do you have some study or anything to bolster your argument or are you juist doing what the media wants you to do..?

Honey, only you could bring me out of semi retirement. When I first saw this thread late last night, I hadn't seen the pics. And, all I could think of was Bandit hanging onto Cayman's haunches for dear life when you brought him over.

And, Cayman, dear dear pup that he is, just looked at my ferocious shih tzu who weighed a mere 22 pounds...and shook him off like the flea he was. Fortunately, your baby has such a good nature and my baby has a soft mouth and never broke the skin.

And, then I saw the pics.

And, then I talked to you today.

Cayman is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever known.

Love and hugs to both of you...and, if anyone in this universe can take care of biz, it's you. I'm counting on it.

Pitbulls does not belong in our society and should be shot on sight.

They serve no purpose and are pure breed killers. Why keep them?

I am a proponent of disposing of the whole race together with Rat Terriers (lol on the last race as I had two of them attack me for no reason and now I cannot stand them)

with the way that you're talking I could seriously believe that you have never seen a dog, you don't seem to know very much about them, and your comprehension skills suck. It seems that you selectively hear what you want because what I have said is that all dogs not just one specific breed have the potential to be dangerous if mistreated, and somehow you managed to only get that I was talking about pit bulls. Pit bulls by nature are friendly animals and enjoy the company of people, and thus so do not make very good watch dogs even though they look very intimidating 95% of the time if a stranger enters a yard with a pit bull in it the dog will likely run up to the person and greet them with a friendly lick. people fear them because of stories that the media has fed them a lot of which is inaccurate, so you won't find many people attempting to enter a yard that has a pit bull in it which is fine by me, I don't need strangers coming into my yard. I wonder how you would act if you were chained up in the yard all day starved and beaten every once in a while? You probably wouldn't be very friendly.

Now I have had many dogs in my 37 years and speak out of personal experience. I will always be cautious of any dog that is not my own and that I am not familiar with, you just don't know what the dog has been taught by the owner. I had a black lab/rottie x it was all black and looked more like a stocky black lab weighing in at 130 to 140 pounds. He did not like other big dogs he was fine with the smaller ones but if given the opportunity he would attack any large breed of dog. Because of this I would not let him off leash in public. He lived to be 15 and was a great dog with a great temperment, loved people but he was not as social or affectionate as the pit bul I have now. He if left alone in the house would destroy whatever he could, something my pit bull will never do. I can leave my pit bull at home alone all day and leave a pile of dog biscuits on the table in his reach and they will still all be there when I come home. He was honestly the easiest dog that I have trained, and I have had labs, rotties, dobermans, shepherds and several other breeds of dog. I will say it again responsible ownership is the key to owning any dog.

So instead of going around making false accusations educate yourself, knowledge is a wonderful thing. Try and see through what the media reports in the effort to sell newspapers. There are a lot of dogs far more dangerous and able to inflict way more damage than a pit bull. What you fail to realize is that when pitties were bred for fighting it was detrimental to be aggressive towards people as the ref had to be able to be in the ring to separate the dogs, and if one of them bit the ref they would be put down. Also what you fail to realize is that they are eager to please their owners and will do what they are taught to do by their owners, just the same as any other dog. So if you have a dog owner that trains the dog to attack people it will. So is this the dogs fault or the owners? Responsible ownership is the key to a well behaved pet of any kind. Hell I had a cat that I would make sure that the kids would stay away from, this thing was mean, didn't like anyone weighed 25 pounds and would chase dogs. This thing would surely fuck up a small child.

I hope this clarifies some of the false information that you have been given on pit bulls and dogs in general

Pit Bulls and Rottweilers are responsible for the vast majority of fatal dog attacks in the US. that has nothing to do with "what i want to hear" - that is a simple fact... not a media conspiracy.

hope that helps to clarify your misguided and biased views about pit bulls.

Dude, youre making far too much sense for alot of these ppl. Nobody reads or pays attention to someone who knows what they are talking about. You need to speak like a caveman and toss out totally bogus statements and rude comments to get a response here.

Great posts though, it's refreshing to read things from someone who is actually educated about the pitbull breed. I too could leave a raw steak on my floor and my pitbull wouldn't touch it unless I told him to. They are really awesome dogs. My pit wouldn't hurt a flea, and loves humans. He goes to the dog park 7 days a week and everyone loves him there. My pit has changed so many views people have towards these dogs.

Where is Cesar Milan when you need him

Cayman's yard is totally fenced.

Dogs can and do jump.

FYI -- Huskies can clear a six foot fence.

If a dog wants in, they will get in.

Two pits blew through my sister in law's fence. Didn't jump in. They just took out the fence.

it wasnt huskies that attacked his dog it was pitbulls. your sister should have built a better fence again it is somewhat her fault, of course more blame lands on the owners of the dog not the breed.
