That was my first reaction too!

But upon mulling it over for a while, I am convinced that Apple is going to score LARGE with this ...

I would have never thought the iPod Nano would out-sell the picture and video ipods 5-to-1 either ...

More unsubstantiated rumors from "pretending-to-be-in-the-loop" analysts.

According the the article it will have a click wheel? I couldn't see Apple dropping the staple of the iPhone, (multi-touch interface) and putting a click wheel on it, instead.

A lower priced iPhone would be nice, but this doesnt sound like it. I'm skeptical. :2cents:

It seems that Apple Inc. has filed a patent application for a "multi-functional handheld device" with a circular touchpad ...

You have seen the size of the Nano's screen right?

There is no way the iPhone's navigation interface would fit on it ... so it sounds like they are inventing a new circular touchpad to allow them to put the maximum number of features in limited space ..
