Great night of UFC fights last night!!

I don't remember a night when ALL the fights were really good.

Wish that would happen more often

on a side note, WTF has happened to Jenna Jameson? She's starting to look like Joan Rivers!!!!

Tito cost himself a unanimous decision victory by grabbing the fence to try and avoid being taken down after being warned by the referee and having a point taken away. Rashad can still say he's undefeated now, but he didn't look that impressive except for that slam and flurry at the very end.

I think Rashad was being overly cautious for most of the fight, probably intimidated because of Tito's rep in the sport. Only in the last min of the fight did he seem to open up a bit.

I enjoyed watching Sean Sherk and Hermes Franca. Franca caught him with a few knees that would have KTFO'd most people, but Sherk kept shooting and putting him on his back. Sherk is a fucking animal and is going to be fun to watch defending his title. I'm really starting to love the 155 division.

I thought Tito definitely got in Rashad's head and had him tentative most of the fight. The take down and flurry at the end by Rashad was too little too late, and I don't know if it was indicative of what would have happened had Rashad pushed the pace from the beginning.

I think part II will be a good fight. Rashad will lose that insecurity and fight with confidence . Tito is a great fighter but some of the new guys are very well rounded and training like crazy now that they can make a living off it. I think Rashad may take him in part II .. Tito fought like he always does and would have just squeaked out a win ( like with Forest ) Rashad was holding back and still did well. if he was loose he could have won that fight.

Sherk is going to be one to watch. the guy is a freak in the gym and has lots of skills. he'll have some exciting fights ..

sherk is as boring a fighter as they come, worse than tim silvia

all he does is take guys to the ground & lay on them, keeping just busy enough so that the fight isnt stood up - but not busy enough to make an entertaining grappling match

i can't wait till he loses his belt & someone exciting is champ

Rashad has definitely come a long ways in a short period of time. He can finish fights now whereas he kind of reminded me of Tito his first few UFC fights with his lay and pray tactics. I've always had a soft spot for Tito but he definitely doesn't appear to be the same fighter he once was. He still has a huge size advantage over most 205 pounders but it doesn't seem like he has progressed in years.

I'm really excited to see Sherk/Florian 2. I thought their first fight was incredible and I don't think it will take long for Florian to put himself in line for another shot at Sherk.

Sorry man, you are speaking for yourself on that one. Try going on any MMA forum and ask if Sherk's fights are boring, and the vast majority will say no. He stayed busy whenever he was on top of Franca and his take downs were brutal. The Sherk/Florian fight was also incredible. If you are talking mainstream MMA fans that want to watch two guys slug it out on their feet the whole time then that might be so, but any real MMA fan that appreciates ground work will disagree...

what "ground work" does sherk do besides lay & pray???

thats why he has like 40 fights and is still unknown...thats why he had to take time off from mma because no organizations wanted to sign him - he's BORING

No, he took time off from MMA because there was still no money in the sport at the time, even for the biggest name fighters, and he had a family to support. When he first came back to the UFC it was at 170, which is too big of a weight class for him, and he really didn't find his stride until the UFC brought back the 155 pound division. Ask Kenny Florian, Hermes Franca, and Nick Diaz if Sherk doesn't keep busy from the top. I saw him throwing elbows and punches all night...

Well, he wasn't boring last night. The guy is an amazing fighter and took 2 knees to the head that would've knocked out lesser men.

really? i read in the latest issue of grappling magazine, an interview with shek that said he went back to laying carpet because he couldnt get any fights - not that he could but couldnt make a living

plain & simple, promoters didnt wanna pay this guy big $$ because he's boring

yea he keeps busy, like i said earlier, he does just enough "activity" from the top so the ref wont stand it up - but he doesnt actually try to split anyones face open with an elbow or really try to KO anyone & finish his fights...hes content to lay on a guy & outmuscle him and hold him down until the time expires

he had hermes MOUNTED, SIDE MOUNTED, and TOOK HIS BACK all several times in last nights fight - and he couldnt finish him???

like i said, the guy is fucking boring and that seems to be the general consensus

I look forward to seeing more Sherk fights. the guy doesn't stop coming and that makes it exciting. He did plenty on the ground last night and got out of a few submission attempts that most guys would have been stuck in.

I haven't read the latest issue, but it must be referring to the period before he came back to the UFC when the money still wasn't available in the sport and he went back to his old job for a while. Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg both said the same thing last night during the fight, so I suggest you read the article again.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if you honestly believe what you just posted I don't know what to say. Hermes Franca is a BJJ black belt so Sherk not being able to finish him on the ground is not an indicator of his finishing ability, but of Hermes Franca's ability. Sherk has only 11 decisions among his 32 wins so that says enough about his finishing ability right there. MMA.TV is full of promoters and true MMA fans. Go on there and start a thread about Sean Sherk being boring, and no promoters wanting to hire him, and see what kind of response that gets you...

Sean Sherk does ground and pound because he knows he cant out box franca. i like a good ground and pound but damn the whole time sherk did take downs and every body position franca was able to get out of, even though sherk is definately stronger. a standup fight franca would have kicked his ass no doubt. sherk knows this he isnt stupid.

anybody can appreciate the ground game in mma, but damn when you shell out the cash to watch these fights and you got the friends there drinking good dinner you want to watch a damn good fight, not scared fighter doing take downs every fucking time. i want to see some ass kicking not some grabbing bullshit the whole time.

Silva held his own definately i won some money thanks to him. he beat griffin for a good reason. dudes badass and cant wait to watch him fight again. tito should be retired man he's too chicken shit and doesnt do the damage a guy his size should be doing.

heath herring had that fight won when he caught minotauro with that kick and had him on the ground, but why the fuck did he want to stand up and let him get up? because herring was scared he might actually win the fight. hope he's crying his eyes out dumb bastard.

anybody know whats going down for the next ufc?

I watched it and I was specifically waiting to see what happened with those two. I watched the show that followed Sherk, where he went through his whole day of everything he eats and how he trains. He's insane. I know he got the decision, but after seeing all his training stuff, I couldn't decide if I was disappointed with the outcome, or not.

I really like BJ Penn so I'm excited about that, too.

Majority of MMA fans aren't hardcore fans who go on MMA forums dude. They want to see blood.

This fight was boring to most people that I know, even some guys who got good knowledge about the sport.

I personally liked the way Sherk handled himself and the knees, but the Lay and Pray without making any serious dammage bored me in the 4th and 5th round.

Things were becomming way too predictible.

Hats off to Sherk for his conditioning and his control of the fight thought, he had a great gameplan and applied it. He even modified the way he was shooting after getting caught so many times with the knees.

The guy is a fucking BJJ black belt... First belt in BJJ takes as much skills as most Karate black belts have.

I didn't see Sherk beeing able to submit him anytime soon.

His positioning / wrestling and muscles were good, but his BJJ skills overall were nowhere as good.

Look at how he tried to pull the Americana. No way he could have done this.

Joe Rogan is over-hyping everything and everyone in the UFC. He's a great bridge between the sport and spectacle and he's good to make it mainstream, but having him or any UFC commentator as a source of information is dumb. The guy hypes and hypes and hypes... He knows the sport thought.

Golberg is a fucking idiot thought. Guy makes up expressions like 'meteoric rise' when a meteor actually fall down. Fucking too predictable and he's talking out of his ass too often. Calling the Gonzaga kick one of the finest in UFC history is fucking dumb. The kick was well timed and placed but it wasn't anything like a top striker head kick.

I love Rogan as a commentator but it kinda bugs me out how he's spinning things out.
