Are you kidding? Sure, great cinematography, adn the movie was actually good. But Platoon, and Full Metal Jacket, are by far, better war movies. And those aren't the only two. That old German Movie, U-Boat or whatever it was called. Also a very good war movie.

And about that list.. I don't entirely agree with the ordering, and in my opinion, a fair few shouldn't be there.. But it's probably one of the most reasonable lists i've seen. Although, Shawshank Redemption should be ahead of The Godfather :winkwink:

Now that's a good movie... and those bookshelves falling were hilarious. Me and Dirty JUST watched that movie last weekend. How about the chick down in the hole in the floor.... asking to get let free... CLASSIC !!!

Now THAT was a boring movie. Only Steven Spielberg could get away with a dead boring war movie. After the first ten minutes, the movie fell flat and never recovered.

My two favourite war movies are "Apocalypse Now" and "Gallipoli"

Gallipoli was fucking terrible. Apocalypse Now was good.

Boiler Room, the group interview scene is great.

bibabi 09-02-2002 02:16 AM

Shallow Hal was great. It makes larger girls love themselves for sure, and the food and restaurant sceens are funnier then shit

Exxxotica 09-02-2002 02:50 AM

Rented the movie "Chopper" last night. It was dark and somewhat warped...

definitely not your action packed blockbuster type of movie.

I thought it was pretty good.

vegasdude 09-02-2002 02:51 AM

Chopper is an Aussie legend. You should read some of his books.

Chopper was excellent. Not sure if any Americans have ever seen interviews with Mark "Chopper" Reid, but if you have, you'll know how well Eric Bana played the part. He's definetley one of the better Australian actors (he was in black hawk down, and the Incredible Hulk -- has that been released in the states yet?)

I saw Minority Report last night. I liked it :Graucho

Hmmm....is he some crazy fucker that used to be a hitman? I think I read an article in Maxim about him.

Jon 09-02-2002 03:28 AM

Donnie Darko

I liked Reign of Fire and Vanilla Sky, and am looking forward to Signs when it opens here. However, I cannot divulge the last movie I saw. Too embarassing.

All around thug/criminal. Amazing how many Australians think he's a hero. He's a character, that's for sure. A very odd sense of humour.

Roald 09-02-2002 06:50 AM

Spy Kids 2 not quite what you hoped for?

I found it breathtaking.

Zebra 09-02-2002 07:54 AM

Going to see One Hour Photo in a bit.. been looking forward to it.. hope I'm not let down. Anyone see the Robin Williams Live special on HBO recently? Definately not the lame, kind and sweet Robin of the last decade.. Glad to see him getting raw again.

Road to Perdition was the last good movie I saw at a theatre; lately there's been nothing but mindless shit like Fear Dot Com and XXX out (how anyone can enjoy 2 hours of idiot dialogue and pointless action sequences is beyond me).

Lord of the Rings was terrible, it didn't hold up as a Great Film the way other movies based on books do. Everyone here seems to like The Shawshank Redemption, so if the movie sucked and their excuse was "Well, you have to read the book to know what's going on", you'd think it's lame (I'm willing to bet most of you haven't read the book).

And to whoever said Schindler's List isn't a movie you can watch repeatedly: I can, and have, and will again if they ever release that fucking DVD. In fact, now that Pulp Fiction got the Special Edition treatment, it's probably the #1 film on my Gotta-Have-It list. I dunno what your definition of art is, but that's mine.

Beastiepoo 09-02-2002 11:22 AM

Saw a movie on Channel 4 last night called 'The Last Supper'. An interesting black comedy with some genuinely funny moments. Has Cameron Diaz in it from before she got popular. Worth a cheap rental.
