I can do html in notepad, and did until I started in adult. That's when I learned to use Dreamweaver.

HTML is universal language.

This poll should have been "who's a web developer and how many stupid web acronyms / languages and the syntax behind them do you know OR who hires web developers".

As just knowing HTML, these days, is pretty much pointless for doing web work. Personally, I figure you're either an actual developer, a hack, or someone who outsources web work. I'm not saying any one of them is better / worse than the other, but just saying "I know HTML" is like saying "I can speak [in my mother tongue]".

Also dont forget my english is fluent.

You need to use editor one way or another, especialy when you need to create fast a lot of tables, with notepad takes years to make it.

LOL @ all the l33t boys who claims they do their HTML in notepad.

No point in doing HTML in notepad unless you use a different file structure then the one offered by the HTML editor. And even then, for the part where plug it in the code, most developpers use fp or dw.

I'm going to have to LOL at your "most developpers use fp or dw." as people using FP or DW aren't developers. Matter of fact, I don't know a definition for those people. If anyone out there is still building static html pages by hand / WYSIWYG -- here's a reality check for you -- you're not a "web developer". You could be making billions of dollars using FP or DW, but your not a web developer.

Just saying, if you can throw together a web page in a WYSIWYG development tool or if you just know HTML, good for you. However, those aren't marketable skills for someone working in web development.

Point???

IX-Gal 07-01-2007 11:32 AM

I know it when i was studying. Way back college lolz. But now I forgot the whole thing. Using dreamweaver much easier :)

dreamwho? homewhat?

and here I was thinking the badass users of gfy did their coding on pspad or something. wtf!

yeah, pspad is my tool of choice.

tranza 07-01-2007 06:59 PM

Yep, I do...

The Sultan Of Smut 07-01-2007 07:09 PM

I use HTML purely for structure and the rest is CSS so I suppose I don't have to know much HTML.

testpie 07-01-2007 07:11 PM

Yep, doesn't really seem to matter in this industry though - most sites seem to look like they were designed by a 12 year old with angst problems, and yet they still make sales.

:2 cents:

I taught myself html about 10 years ago. Started with hotdog html editor and then found homesite. I use homesite 95% of the time and dreamweaver about 5%

headless ghost 07-02-2007 09:20 AM

yes.
took all of about 5 or 10 minutes to learn it.
