Whoa - $595 Franklin Mint Scrabble game for $15 bucks!

Checked out some garage sales today and bought a Franklin Mint Scrabble game (worth $595) for $15!

The chick was askin' $20 for it - I offered $15 and she took it. Said she was sellin' it for a neighbour.

i love garage sales, but i have a tendency to like all sorts of weird retro shit, so garage sales and thrift shops are a goldmine to me. nice snag...

Yep. That was the first thing we checked after getting it back to the house

I kinda' figured the thing was probably worth $100-150 (new) when I offered her $15. Surprised the hell outta me when I went on the Franklin site and saw the actual price.

For sure.

I'm always on the hunt for unusual items as props for the studio - or something I can tear apart/modify/refurbish and make use of. Half the time I'm the guy haulin' away the crap nobody wants...but suits me just fine.

heh.. I don't mind scrabble at all... good pick up.. I play at least every couple of months with some older relatives. keeps their minds active and a good way to socialise before they're not around any more.

Naw, not these days. I've played a few times wayyy back when.

It'll just be a conversation piece on the coffee table - until we decide to sell it, heh.

The area I live in's too full of "antique hunters" to ever get a deal like that at a garage sale unless you're out of bed at 6AM.

Nice find.

Same here.....usually.

I guess everyone just overlooked the Scrabble game and our timing was lucky.
