    A sad day for pho lovers

    I was just informed today that the best pho (vietnamese noodle soup) restaurant in my area was sold. I am there at least 3 times a week and have been going there for years. Saturday is the last day for the original owner, the restaurant will be closed for a few days and will re-open next week sometime.
    The thing is that they will not be using the same recipe and that is what set it apart from the rest of the pho places around. It had a distinct unique flavour that none of the others could really compare with. It was a recipe that has been handed down for generations, the family have been operating a pho restaurant in Veitnam for over 50 years.
    The owner opened this restaurant 17 years ago and says he is tired of working and wants to retire and travel for a while. It's the end of an era.

      Some may mock, but I hate it when a restaurant that has become an institution (and that i like!) shuts down.

              we actually asked him for the recipe and he just kind of shrugged it off and laughed. He was saying how it's an old family secret and he may open up another restaurant in a few years if he gets tired of retirement

                                  Maybe you can get him to invite you over for dinner sometimes...or maybe he has a daughter that knows the recipes that you can marry

                                  You can always try asking him what other Pho shops he recommends.

                                  Otherwise you must embark on a journey in search of Pho nirvana.
