An acquantance from your past needs your help to hide from police - DO YOU HELP?

Scenario

Someone from your past - an acquantance - someone you know but not well - had a few good laughs with but that's about it - many years ago - shows up on your door and asks for your help. They are running from the police on a murder charge or something of that nature in seriousness. They say they didn't do it and need your help to hide for a while.

Do you help?
Do you turn them in?

thoughts?

I tell them to get lost.

I have a family to protect. I'm not risking being an accomplice to anything.

Depending on the cirumstances, I don't know 100% for sure that I would call 911. But they'd have to go, I have a family, and I wouldn't risk them for anything.

Sure. because while he is hiding out at my place he can use the time to prove his innocence and i can use the time to start liquidating assets so that I will have the bail money when we both get busted.

Murder? No... hell no. I'd call the police just as soon as he or she had left. If he or she is innocent then the evidence will prove it as such. They are already running... doesn't give much confidence in their "not guilty" version. I would turn them in asap.

interesting thing about this thread is ...

posting you'd never do it and if you end up in that situation needing help noone will open their door to you.

Posting you WOULD do it and some murderer might show up at your door!

If I murdered someone I wouldn't exactly expect anyone to help me. If I actually gave a shit about my friends I wouldn't put them in that sort of situation anyway.

yeah. a guy here shot 2 police officers that raided his house. They charged in UNANNOUNCED and he hid in the washroom and shot at them when they shot at him though the door. He hit two of them lightly wounding them.

He was shot also. They refused him medical treatment and ANY pain killers for something like 24 hours while interogating him. All over the papers here.

do you trust all police forces with your life? ere they all not corrupt?

Your friend had a gun available to him to shoot at the police with? That is, it was not locked up and stored properly, un loaded etc etc?

So your friend was a criminal to begin with?

No I don't trust really anyone with my life... I'm old enough to know that if the police stormed my house I "might" survice by throwing myself on the ground and letting them butt fuck me...

That guy obviously had a high IQ thinking he should shoot back...

Got a link to the article? Because that just sounds too odd.. How the hell did he get to the bathroom to hide? Why was the loaded gun so readily available that he could grab it and make it to the bathroom? If he was in some other area of the house (so he could make it to the bathroom before they got to him), how can we believe that they didn't announce themselves but he didn't hear it?

when did I say this was a friend?

and why do you assume the gun wasn't locked up in area he could have got to fast?

Sorry, it's late and I briefly scanned what you wrote. You're right, you didn't say friend, my mistake.

You did, however, say "a guy here", so It's pretty safe to assume that you meant Canada. In Canada, guns have to be stored, un loaded locked up either seperately from ammunition or with a trigger lock in place.

When police "raid" your house, they knock once or twice yelling police (if you're lucky) and then kick the door down.

How long does it take to get to a gun safe, open it, unlock the ammo, load the gun and then get to the bathroom? Probably longer than it takes police to kick the door down.

Yes, but you're a gun toting yank. In Canada, storing a loaded gun in your house is a federal offense.

That means, just having a loaded gun in your house could send you to jail for a good long time, even if you used it to legitametly defend yourself.

i didn't say he wasn't a drug dealer. They have rights too though. The guy had been home invaded before and thought the same was happening again.

before you all go nutso on drug dealers, they found NO drugs on the premises.

and if you freak out on dealers - then be prepared to write off 70% of GFY as most here do drugs or have done drugs in one form or another at one time or another.

oh and the GUN WAS registered - the police never bothered to check to see if there was any registered weapons in the house before raiding it.

Actually, to be quite honest, I don't care if someone deals drugs, or even if they're a criminal.

What I'm hinting at here is that if he was already a criminal, then how far off the mark or corrupt could the police be for raiding his home in the first place?

by that standard then the police have the right to raid most anyone's home at ANY time cause most everyone breaks one law or another during the course of their lives.

Well that might be pushing it a bit far. I'm not saying the police were in the right, or didn't fuck up. I'm just saying that they couldn't have been too far off the mark raiding this particular guy's house, by the sounds of things anyway.

They had a drug search warrant...

They say they announced themselves... The criminal says they didn't...

The guy was a drug dealer who had four registered weapons, including a 20-gauge shotgun, a seven-millimetre rifle and two 22-calibre bolt-action rifles.

ERU wasn't part of the raid as they were "stupid" and didn't check to see if he had weapons registered to him...

3 officers were shot, the 3rd probably was "friendly" fire.
